We’ve known for a while now that Insomniac Games was working on a multiplayer Spider-Man game, revealed by the massive data breach that occurred late last year. As more data from the hack is being unearthed, a trailer for the game Spider-Man: The Great Web, has made its way to the public in all its glory. We won’t be linking to the trailer here, but it does pose some interesting questions regarding the direction of the industry.

The concept trailer is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, who performs as Peter Parker in the games and shows multiple Spider-Men variants swinging around New York City fighting bad guys. The group includes Peter, Miles, Ben Reilly, Miguel O'Hara, and even Gwen Stacy suited up in a Spider-Gwen outfit inspired by the Spider-verse movies. Cindy Moon, known as Silk in the comics, who was teased at the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, can also be seen in concept art alongside the rest of the heroes.

"New York City. Nothing in the whole world I wouldn't do for this big, beautiful apple," narrates Lowenthal. "One moment you’re scarfing down a slice from Vinnie’s, the next – you’re stopping a super-villain prison break. Sometimes you can swing it as a lone wolf, but you’re way better off with some friends. I’ve seen the Sinister Six before…but never so methodical, so savage. I don’t think I’m going to be enough this time, guys. But together, we just might be."

The concept for the game included the Spider-Men taking on the Sinister Six from the first game. There’s also a shot of Venom being playable, fighting against the Spider-people. At one point, the Spider-Men enter a new dimension, which confirms that Insomniac would have used the multiverse as a gateway for new content.

It seems Insomniac can’t catch a break. Even with the hack behind them, the company keeps seeing its plans leaked unintentionally, sometimes even by itself.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is out now on PS5.
