Insidious 5's first trailer is finally here ahead of the horror sequel's release this July.

Sony had confirmed the trailer was coming today (April 19) when it released the official poster and title for the new movie earlier this week, revealing that the movie was officially called Insidious: The Red Door.

A direct sequel to Insidious: Chapter 2, the new movie takes place 10 years later when Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Dalton (Ty Simpkins) have to head back into The Further to face their family's dark past and even more terrifying horrors that lurk behind the red door.

Insidious: The Red Door marks the directorial debut from Patrick Wilson and it's set to conclude the Lambert Family saga that was the focus of both Insidious and Insidious: Chapter 2.

Rose Byrne, Ty Simpkins and Andrew Astor are all reprising their roles for The Red Door, with Peter Dager and Hiam Abbass also due to appear in currently undisclosed roles.

Wilson, who has also appeared in The Conjuring films, teased the themes of The Red Door upon announcing the project had wrapped filming, saying: "Watching Dalton go to college and what does that do? Watching a young man go to college and all the new experiences and feeling like an outsider trying to fit in.

He continued: "He's got this ability that he doesn't even know that he has of being an astral projector and traveller.

"After so long, are we still hypnotised? Is there still that trance? What does that do to your life? What does that do to your marriage? And then what does that do for a father and son relationship?"

Insidious: The Red Door will be released on July 7.
