Inside the Luxury Austrian Clinic Where Sarah Ferguson Recuperated After Her Cancer Diagnosis

Mayrlife has found itself in the spotlight this week as the Duchess of York shared that she spent time recuperating there after being diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer—her second cancer diagnosis in just a few months. Her spokesperson said that she was in “good spirits” despite the distressing nature of the diagnosis and advised that one of the places she had stayed since hearing the news was the clinic at Lake Altaussee.
In a post on Instagram today, which appeared to have been taken out on a walk by the lake, Sarah Ferguson wrote that she has been “taking some time to myself.” She continued, “I am incredibly thankful to the medical teams that have supported me through both of these experiences with cancer and to the Mayrlife Clinic for taking gentle care of me in the past weeks, allowing me time for recuperation. I am resting with my family at home now, feeling blessed to have their love and support.”
The clinic offers individually-tailored programs to help with everything including healthy aging, stress control and weight care. The day is structured around gentle exercise, individually-planned meals and personal therapies including breathing training, manual abdominal treatment and an evening liver wrap.
“At the heart of the regeneration process are detoxification and purification programs that reactivate the body’s self-healing powers and lead to newfound health,” the clinic says on its website. Programs range from €2,505 (around $2,700) for a classic program to €4,675 (around $5,000) for a healthy aging program. Accommodation is an additional cost ranging from €460 (around $500) per night in a comfort room to €1,770 (around $1,9300) per night for a penthouse with a lake view.
Well-known faces who endorse the clinic in testimonials on its website include Australian actress Rebel Wilson and celebrity facialist Ivan Pol.
