Attendees eager to hear former Vice President Mike Pence speak about abortion were lined up outside of Florence Baptist Temple this afternoon.

“He has information Christians need to know about,” Brooks Schoolcraft, a regular attendee of the Florence church, said. “He’s also a good speaker, and I’m excited to be here for that.”

The church opened its doors to visitors as well.

“We’re not members, we just came to see (Pence),” Dianne Briganti, a Florence local in attendance, said. “We’re super conservative, and (Pence) stands for everything we stand for. People need to realize that (President Joe) Biden’s agenda is not what America needs.”

With the Supreme Court’s decision in June to overturn Roe v. Wade, abortion is hot on the minds of many people sitting in the church’s pews this Wednesday evening.

“Of course, we’re pro-life, but that doesn’t necessarily eliminate all of abortion in the country, and that’s the biggest lie that’s been told today, that it’s eliminated all abortion,” Jim Harsh, a regular attendee of the church, said.

“I’m here to see his speech about the post-Roe versus Wade world and what it’s going to be like, what challenges they’re going to be faced with. There’s so much confusion as to what this law really means. So he’s really going to sit there and explain the law to us and how it’s going to affect us.”
