Outdoor pools often open Memorial Day weekend, but that's not always the case. Here's what we know about a few of the pools and outdoor aquatic facilities in Central Indiana.

When do Indianapolis outdoor pools open?

Some Indianapolis pools will open up Memorial weekend, but the specifics have not yet been announced at the time of publication.

Alex Cortwright, chief communications officer for Indy Parks & Recreation, told IndyStar that it will be announced this week which pools will open up this weekend and which ones will open next weekend.

"We will have initial pools opening this weekend with more opening up June 1," Cortwright said. "We’ll be announcing the specifics this week once water quality testing wraps up."

When do Hamilton County outdoor pools open?

Carmel

The Waterpark in Carmel opens May 25.

Fishers

Geist Waterfront Park Beach will open Memorial Day, May 27.

Noblesville

Forest Park Aquatic Center opens on Memorial Day, May 27.

Indoor pools are typically open all-year-round.

If you're looking for places to cool off until the outdoor pools open, these are indoor pools in Indianapolis:

  • George Washington High School Pool

  • Thatcher Park Pool
