Indiana men's basketball vs. UConn start time, TV, streaming

Indiana basketball steps up in competition when it heads to New York to play in the Empire Classic. The Hoosiers play defending national champion Connecticut on Sunday, and either Texas or Louisville on Monday.

The Hoosiers (3-0) have a bunch of harder-than-anticipated victories, the latest against Wright State. The Hoosiers struggle on 3-point shooting (31.4%) and allowing opponents to rebound their own misses (12.7 per game). IU is shooting 64.2% on 2-pointers, but at least one much taller opponent awaits.

IU's leaders are Kel'el Ware (18.3 points, 74.1% shooting, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocked shots), Xavier Johnson (14.0 points, 2.3 assists, 4-of-8 3s), Malik Reneau (15.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists) and Trey Galloway (12.0 points, 63.1% shooting).

UConn basketball players to watch

The No. 4 (USA TODAY) Huskies (3-0) have cruised to three victories. Five players average in double figures (Alex Karaban, 6-8, 17.0 points, 6.3 rebounds); Tristen Newton (6-5, 15.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 4.7 assists, 2.3 steals); Cam Spencer (6-4, 15.0 ppg, 45.8% 3FG, 5.0 assists); Donovan Clingan (7-2, 15.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.3 blocks); Stephon Castle (6-6, 14.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.0 steals). Castle is out with an injury, and coach Dan Hurley is concerned about roster depth.

Texas basketball players to watch

The No. 17 Longhorns (3-0) have three hot 3-point shooters: Ithiel Horton (6-5, 14.7 ppg, 60% 3FG); Max Abmas (6-0, 14.7 ppg, 50% 3FG, 4.0 assists); Tyrese Hunter (6-0, 14.0 ppg, 46.2% 3FG, 4.3 assists). They get help inside from Kadin Shedrick (6-11, 10.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg) and Dillon Mitchell (6-8, 9.3 ppg, 10 rpg).

Louisville basketball players to watch

The Cardinals (2-1) continue their rebuild with second-year coach Kenny Payne. Mike James (6-5, 18.0 ppg, 6.8 rpg) leads the Cardinals, along with Tre White (6-7, 12.7 ppg, 9.0 rpg) and Skyy Clark (6-3, 11.0 ppg, 2.3 assists). Louisville is shooting 26.4% from 3-point range.
