Indiana Jones 5's James Mangold to direct DC's Swamp Thing movie
Indiana Jones 5 director James Mangold has for the first time officially confirmed that he is working on the Swamp Thing movie for DC.
There have been rumours circulating linking Mangold to the Swamp Thing project at DC Studios, and at Star Wars Celebration, Mangold confirmed to Collider that the rumours were true.
When asked what would come first, the Swamp Thing movie or his newly announced Star Wars movie. Mangold attempted to play it coy, saying: "We’ll see what comes to fruition first. I’ve been around your business too long, buddy boy."

The reporter joked that Mangold knew how to evade questions, to which Mangold gave a more detailed response: "It’s not even evading, it would just give you some scoop and I don’t even have the answer. The truth is, I’m writing both right now and who knows what’s going to happen and what’s going to blossom first or second.
"I’m acknowledging I’m doing Swamp Thing, there’s your scoop. It’s not a rumour. It’s happening."

DCU boss James Gunn also confirmed the news on Twitter, adding that Mangold would be directing as well as writing. "Of course when we started charting the course for the DCU one of the first people I talked to was the super talented @mang0ld about writing and directing his passion project Swamp Thing," he said.
Swamp Thing will be part of DC's continued shake-up, which will also include Blue Beetle, Gunn confirmed.
Specifically, Swamp Thing will be one of five films that will make up the DCU's Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters. Five TV shows will also join those movies, which will all take place after the universe is reset in The Flash.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is scheduled for release on June 23, 2023.
