New trailer revealed for Indiana Jones 5Disney

Indiana Jones 5, or Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny to use its proper title, has dropped a brand-new trailer.

At this year's Star Wars Celebration, the latest footage from Harrison Ford's other big Lucasfilm franchise was screened for fans and uploaded online. In it, we see just how important Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Helena Shaw is.

Her character is the daughter of Toby Jones' Basil, one of Indy's close friends. Despite that, she looks like she's really out for herself, as Indy and Mads Mikkelsen's Jürgen Voller race to find the titular dial, which is reported to be able to rewind time.

If this trailer seems like it's full of 'final outing' energy, that's because it is. Ford stated that the reason he wanted to pick up the whip and hat once again was because he "just thought it would be nice to see one [movie] where Indiana Jones was at the end of his journey."

While it's Indy's last outing, and the flashback scenes with the digital de-ageing technology shows just how big the gap between Raiders of the Lost Ark and now is, the film actually took out a lot of old man jokes from the script.

"In [Dial of Destiny] there were a lot of old jokes in the script. We took them all out. There is a moment where he observes himself in this situation and says, 'What the f**k am I doing in here?' But I hate what I call 'talking about the story,'" Ford explained.

"I want to see circumstances in which the audience gets a chance to experience the story, not to be led through the nose with highlights pointed out to them. I’d rather create behaviour that is the joke of age rather than talk about it."

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is scheduled for release on June 23, 2023.
