Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny spoilers follow.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny star Shaunette Renée Wilson has revealed she asked for changes to an "offensive" scene.

The actress plays Agent Mason in the fifth film of the franchise, which is set to be Harrison Ford's final appearance as the iconic adventurer.

In an interview with Variety, Wilson said she initially took issue with the way her character exited the film, but subsequently altered the scene after collaborating with director James Mangold.

"Initially I found it [the scene] to be a little too offensive and a bit problematic, and I was like, 'We probably don't need to say these words or have it done this way, and this is something I'm uncomfortable with,'" she said before praising the director.

"He was like, 'You know what, you're completely right, I hear you. That's something I flagged as well.' And we were able to work on that."

The actress, who has also appeared in Black Panther and Billions, described the series as "special" in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy last month, explaining why the films appeal to such a wide audience.

“It's the humanity of this character," she said. "We all kind of see ourselves in him, in some respect, whether it's the naughty side, the antihero, the curmudgeon, the humour, the sexy guy – whatever it is. To kind of track his journey in this world, I think is just really special."

As well as Ford and Wilson, Dial of Destiny boasts a stacked cast including Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The Fleabag star and creator recently told Digital Spy about a special moment from filming.

"It was walking into the tomb at the end, and the detail, and the grandeur of it," said Waller-Bridge. "The walls were wet and dripping, and there were these beautiful artefacts everywhere, and the lighting was stunning. It was truly huge."

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is in cinemas now.
