Hyundai Has Recreated The GTA 6 Trailer With Hilarious Results

Hyundai Motorsport GTA 6 Trailer

The GTA 6 trailer sent shockwaves across the gaming industry and beyond, and given the roaring success of the franchise, it’s no surprise to see other companies also wanting a piece of the pie. While there have been many fan recreations of the trailer, Hyundai Motorsport took things to the next level by putting its spin on the game.

Titled “Grand Test Auto XXIV,” Hyundai Motorsport’s recreation of the GTA 6 trailer hits all the beats of the original, hilariously set to the tune of Tom Petty’s “Love Is A Long Road.” The video has been viewed over 74,000 times on YouTube and has over 1 million views on Twitter, with fans of both GTA and WRC uniting in the comments sections to celebrate the spoof.

The trailer sees WRC champions Ott Tänak and Thierry Neuville standing in for the roles of Lucia and Jason from the trailer. The video doesn’t dub over the original audio either, instead opting to use the original dialogue from the trailer, keeping the spirit of Rockstar’s game alive — it appears that Rockstar has some massive fans at Hyundai.

The WRC drivers are also a good sport, recreating the poses and actions of the characters in the trailer. While fans debate whether the bikini girl in the original trailer is Lucia, they can have a good laugh at Esapekka Lappi recreating the pose in the video.

Beyond recreations of character moments, the trailer, as you’d expect, features plenty of driving action and a montage of celebratory moments from past WRC events. Compared to the raunchiness of the GTA 6 trailer, though, Hyundai’s video keeps things relatively tame. Instead of busting through the doors of a convenience store with guns, Hyundai’s rally drivers enter a warehouse wielding power drills.

Seb Scott, a reporter for Hyundai Motorsport, revealed that the company wasn’t sure about venturing into spoof territory with the video, although it worked out well enough for them.

Of course, the main purpose of the video is to drum up hype for the upcoming WRC 2024 season. Given that I’m not a car guy, it certainly piqued my interest, so it's doing its job in that regard. To that end, this year’s WRC season kicks off with Rallye Monte-Carlo later in January, if you’re interested.

GTA 6 will release sometime in 2025 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and a PC release has yet to be announced.
