Hunter X Hunter Fighting Game Gets A Name And A Trailer

Hunter x Hunter fighting game teaser

Last month, a Hunter x Hunter fighting game was announced from Marvel vs Capcom 3 developer Eighting. At the time, all we had to go off was a very brief teaser that simply showed the Hunter x Hunter logo alongside Eighting’s company logo. Now, we’ve got our first taste of the game, including its name and its gameplay details, and it’s looking very interesting.

Publisher Bushiroad Games revealed the official title for the upcoming game, Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact, with a trailer on its official YouTube page. The trailer isn’t very long, just over 30 seconds long, but it does give us a fairly good look at the game’s art style and tease a little bit about some of the game’s potential features.

As for the game’s art, it’s a very flat, anime-style look to it, with big block colors and subtle shading. It’s not quite on the level of Arc System Works’ signature style, but it does look very nice, and the more pastel-y tone to it suits Hunter x Hunter very well.

The gameplay we know decidedly less about, since this was more of a cinematic teaser than an actual trailer, but there were some hints. In the trailer, we see two groups of three characters about to face off against each other, suggesting it could very well be a 3v3 fighting game.

Here are the characters confirmed to be appearing in the game:

  • Gon Freecss

  • Killua Zoldyck

  • Kurapika Kurta

  • Leorio Paradinight

  • Hisoka Morrow

  • Isaac Netero

So far, no release date or platforms have been announced for Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact. We’d expect it to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with Switch and PS4 a real, but unlikely, possibility. Eighting does have experience working on a wide range of platforms, so we’re not ready to rule anything out yet.

And hey, by the time it comes out, we might have a Switch 2 in our hands.
