Like many people on social media, Hunter Schafer took to Instagram over the Labor Day weekend to celebrate the unofficial end of summer with a photo dump. While she showcased pics of her alongside her Euphoria co-star Alexa Demie and other fun moments in a carousel post, Hunter took the time to clarify recent online speculation. The 23-year-old shut down recent rumors that she held "hatred towards non-binary folks."

Hunter captioned her post, "bye summer see u next year," before she came back, leaving an additional comment that addressed the rumors."Also, while we are here- i hold absolutely no hatred towards non-binary folks," the actor and model began. "I agreed with another t-girl's post in which she pointed out an in-balance in the visibility and space-taken up between non-binary folks and binary trans women (particularly those of color and/or those who have resulted to sex work as a means of survival) that i think deserves attention/ re-evaluation (as far as resources and platforms go) within the LGBTQ+ community," she clarified. "I am not a trans medicalist, and my ideology around transness does not align with transmedicalism, nor a disdain towards nb identifying people. ❣️"

Hunter's comments come after she left multiple exclamation marks, seemingly agreeing with a now-deleted post by Instagram user @piggytaiwan. The Instagram post featured a screenshot of an Instagram Story with a caption discussing the different experiences binary trans people face versus that of nonbinary trans people in the wake of anti-trans legislation being passed across the US. The post ignited a larger discussion about how binary and nonbinary trans people are treated.
