SEE IT: Hundreds of maskless partiers meet up at Michigan lake for July 4th

Videos circulating on social media show a well-attended 4th of July party at a Michigan lake where revelers are not social distancing or wearing masks, risking coronavirus exposure while violating Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s executive order which still bans large gatherings.

The scene was found at Diamond Lake Sandbar, which had been advertising its July 4 party on social media, in Cassopolis in the western part of the state.

In the video, a tightly packed crowd dances and sings as a camera pans back and forth across the crowd.

Coronavirus outbreaks across the country have been linked to crowds singing together in close proximity.

The organizer, who refused to give his name, told MLive that similar parties have been held at the lake on 4th of July weekend for 30 years.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has reported a steady rise in coronavirus cases since briefly falling under 100 in mid-June. The state reported 598 new cases on July 2.

The scene at Diamond Lake was similar to videos of crowds at Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks over Memorial Day weekend. Large Memorial Day gatherings are believed to be partially responsible for the recent surges of coronavirus cases most states have seen in recent weeks.
