Hugh Grant Pokes Fun at His Recent Roles: 'I'm Playing Weird Orange Creatures' (Exclusive)

The actor plays Tony the Tiger in the upcoming comedy 'Unfrosted' and most recently played an Oompa Loompa in 'Wonka'

Hugh Grant admits his career has recently taken an unexpected turn.

The actor who played an Oompa-Loompa opposite Timothée Chalamet in last year's Wonka will next be seen playing Tony the Tiger in the comedy Unfrosted.

"These are sort of things that come to me now. Weird orange creatures, but I seem to doing them," says the actor, 63, best known for roles in romantic comedies such as Notting Hill, Bridget Jones's Diary, Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Unfrosted is directed by and stars Jerry Seinfeld and tells the story of the invention of the Pop-Tart.

Grant says he "quite enjoyed" playing the Frosted Flakes mascot in the new film out on Netflix May 3.

"I am very good at finding reasons to hate my job and I actually enjoyed it," says Grant. "I enjoyed all those people. I thought it was a fun role. It was bloody hot in that costume, but otherwise I enjoyed it."

The film also stars Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer and James Marsden. Grant says working alongside his funny Unfrosted costars was a highlight of the production.

"They're fun between takes and then they're fun during takes," he says.

Grant, a father of five, admits he tries to steer his own kids away from sugary cereals but it doesn't always work out.

"I'm such a hypocrite on that. I say to one of my sons, 'It's disgusting to watch you eat those cocoa puffs.' I mean, God's sake. You've just had three bowls, have you any idea what you're doing to yourself? And then he says, 'Do you want some?' I go, yeah, absolutely.'"

Unfrosted is on Netflix May 3.
