HS musicals this week: At Pearl River, Lakeland, Mahopac, Eastchester, Peekskill, Fox Lane

Six high school musical productions are ready to take theatergoers on wildly different rides this weekend, to far-flung locales — without leaving the Lower Hudson Valley.

Head to Shrub Oak and arrive in Chicago. Drive to Pearl River and be transported to homespun Iowa. You can find London this weekend — old-school in Bedford or prim and proper in Mahopac.

The envelope, please: Winners announced in first honors for non-musical high school plays

Drive to Peekskill and you'll find an undefined Bible belt town where dance is a no-no. Point your car to Eastchester and a wildly unconventional family will make you feel completely normal by comparison.

Shane Mulvey as Harold Hill makes a young friend in River City, ensemble member Emma McCarthy, in Pearl River High School's production of "The Music Man." A performance for Pearl River senior citizens at 3:30 p.m., April 18. Then at 7 p.m., April 19 and at 2 and 7 p.m., April 20.

Fox Lane in Bedford brings "Something Rotten!" to the stage. The story of the play-writing Bottom Brothers who, unfortunately, are working in the theater at the same time as William Shakespeare.
