Houston County Galleria mall and theater closed after water main break

Most stores at the Houston County Galleria remain closed five days after a water main broke this past weekend.

Saturday night, the GTC Galleria Mall Cinemas was evacuated due to a water main break in one of its auditoriums and the Centerville Fire Deparment responded to the scene.

At around 11 p.m. that night, the GTC Galleria Mall Cinemas announced that it would be closed “for the foreseeable future.”

The Houston County Galleria mall has been closed since Sunday due to an emergency water shutoff as a result of the water main break.

JCPenney, Belk and Crunch Fitness are the only businesses that remain open and are not affected by the water shutoff.

The mall’s Facebook page posted an update Tuesday evening stating that “the problem is being remedied.”

The ServPro Disaster Recovery Team is currently working on restoration efforts at the GTC Galleria Mall Cinemas. GTC’s Houston Lakes location in Warner Robins remains open.

The Houston County Galleria and GTC Galleria Mall Cinemas both told the Telegraph they are unable to comment on the situation by press time.
