Houston Astros Justin Verlander gave up five runs in rehab start with Hooks on Saturday

FRISCO — Houston Astros right-handed pitcher Justin Verlander threw four innings in a rehab start with the Hooks on Saturday in Frisco as the RoughRiders took a 10-3 victory.

Verlander threw 77 pitches over the four innings as he continues to work his way back from a sore right shoulder.

Verlander threw two scoreless innings to start the game but then things came unraveled in the third. Verlander threw 42 pitches as the RoughRiders scored six runs, one unearned, and were helped by two Hooks errors. Verlander then retired five straight before he left the game. Frisco sent 11 batters to the plate in the inning.

Verlander threw four innings, giving up six runs, five earned, on seven hits with three strikeouts and one walk and he was tagged with the loss.
