SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Syracuse firefighters are responding to a collapsed house after a gas explosion at 205 Carbon Street.

Units were first called around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, and are performing a search and rescue.

There are reports that two people could still be stuck inside the house at roughly 5:30 p.m.

There was a car underneath the collapsed portion of the home, said Syracuse Fire Chief Michael Monds.

Monds said 10 people were taken to the hospital. Eight were taken in advanced life support ambulances.

AMR ambulance told Chief Monds that two people were in serious condition.

He also believes roughly 17-20 people were living in the home.

The neighborhood is currently safe, Monds said.
