Los Angeles: Hotels Near LAX

There are many existing tools for finding LAX hotels. If you perform a search on Google for "hotels near lax," one of the first options that appears is a site called laxhotels.net. Although surprised by the find, I suppose I shouldn't have been. With so many options available to travelers, it makes sense for some enterprising person or group to put all of that information in one place. So how does the site fare against more common travel aggregators like Hotels.com and Kayak.com?
LAXHotels automatically sorts hotels by distance from the airport, which is handy. However, there doesn't seem to any way to isolate hotels by a certain distance from the airport like you can on Hotels.com and Kayak.com. LAXHotels also sorely lacks any user reviews, often considered a vital tool in choosing a hotel. But the site does surprise by focusing on more than hotels near LAX. Users can search for hotels near any address, landmark, or airport, giving the site considerably more functionality. In all, however, I'd recommend supplementing any hotel research on LAXHotels with user reviews on other similar sites.
There are over 50 different hotels within three miles of the Los Angeles International Airport. From those there are a whopping 10 two- to four-star hotels within a mere mile. If quality is more important than budget, and you want to be as close as possible to the airport, then both the Courtyard by Marriott LAX and the Embassy Suites LAX International Airport South are rated 4.0 or better by users on Hotels.com and Kayak.com. For the more cost-conscious, the Crowne Plaza Los Angeles International Airport may fit the bill without sacrificing too much in the way of quality.
For those who don't mind hotels near LAX that are more than a mile away, there are still many quality options. On the luxury side, both the Ayres Hotel Manhattan Beach LAX and the Marriott Marina del Rey receive high marks from travelers and are less than five miles away. For budget travelers who still want quality out of their LAX hotels, the Candlewood Suites LAX Hawthorne and the Comfort Inn Cockatoo may be options to consider. (Again, both hotels are less than five miles away.)
If you're looking for an overall best value out of the hotels near LAX, I'd have to go with the Hampton Inn Los Angeles International Airport. Customers say that the hotel is quiet despite the close proximity to the airport. As of this writing this Hampton Inn is also one of the few hotels in the area offering free parking, adding additional value. It's not frilly and luxurious, but the hotel offers the typical Hampton services including clean rooms, breakfast, a newspaper, and shuttle services, all at very reasonable prices.
