This hotel near Miami Beach is one of the best in the world, Condé Nast Traveler says
A luxury hotel in Surfside has been named one of the best hotels in the world.
As part of the 2022 Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Traveler awards, the Four Seasons Hotel at the Surf Club was chosen one of the best hotels in the world.
The Four Seasons at the Surf Club was ranked No. 24 out of 50 hotels, the only hotel in Florida to make the list (No. 1 was Cheval Blanc St. Tropez on the French Riviera). Here’s what Condé Nast Traveler wrote about the spot, which is also home to Thomas Keller’s Michelin-starred restaurant The Surf Club:
“This hacienda-style hotel has been brilliantly extended by Richard Meier, whose 12-story glass towers seem to float above the terra cotta tiles of the original 1930s Mediterranean-style pantile roofs, and interiors by Joseph Dirand. The cabanas now house part of the charming spa, where even the brushed-brass keypads on the lockers are a thing of beauty, as well as a handful of Cabana Studio bedrooms, each a pale-but-interesting essay in contrasting textures: canvas, rattan, and travertine.”
Condé Nast Traveler also mentions the appeal of the restaurant Le Sirenuse at the hotel, but the praise comes too late: The restaurant closed in 2020 and never reopened.
Other Miami-area properties were also saluted in the awards, which are chosen by more than 240,000 readers and the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of travel industry excellence.

Best Florida resorts
The Carillon Miami Wellness Resort in Miami Beach was the only Florida property named as one of the top 10 destination spa resorts in the United States. Last year, the luxury resort was named one of the best spas in the country by Travel + Leisure.
Several local properties made the list of the top 15 resorts in Florida excluding the Florida Keys and Orlando. Acqualina Resort & Residences in Sunny Isles Beach was ranked no. 3. The elegant Mediterranean-style spot was also named the best destination resort in the country and one of the top three waterfront hotels in the country in the 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards by USA Today earlier this year as well as one of the best hotels in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report.
J.W. Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa in Aventura, home to the famous Tidal Cove Water Park, was No. 7, with the St. Regis Bal Harbour in Bal Harbour at No. 11.
Readers chose the Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach as the best resort in the state.

Best cities in the U.S.
In addition to ranking resorts, voters chose their favorite cities in the country. No large Florida cities made the best cities in the United States list — sorry, Miami — but Key West was No. 7 on the small cities list, with Palm Beach at No. 9.
