Hospitalized 24-year-old Boise woman among those in ‘horrible car accident’ on Idaho 44

A “horrible car accident” involving three vehicles in Canyon County along the eastbound lane of Idaho 44 sent four Treasure Valley residents to the hospital, including a 24-year-old Boise woman.

At 1:01 p.m. Tuesday, Dystinee Miller was stopped on Idaho 44 as she attempted to turn left onto Eel Lane when a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer, being driven by a 57-year-old Nampa woman, rear-ended Miller’s 2015 Nissan Altima and pushed it into oncoming traffic, according to an Idaho State Police news release and a GoFundMe page created to help Miller with medical expenses.

A 62-year-old Nampa man was a passenger in the Mountaineer, state police said.

A 2011 Honda Pilot driven by a 52-year-old Nampa woman then struck Miller’s vehicle head-on, the release said. All the drivers and passengers were taken by ambulance to local hospitals. The other drivers and the passenger have not been identified.

“She is such a strong, dedicated young woman that will conquer ANYTHING that comes her way. She has overcome so much in her life and she will get through this as well! We are all so grateful she is alive!” Joleen O’Bosky, the GoFundMe organizer and a friend of Miller’s, wrote in the post.

The page is hoping to raise $10,000 to cover Miller’s medical bills and “other financial responsibilities.”

Miller is in stable condition and awaiting MRI results to determine possible surgeries on her back and leg, according to the GoFundMe page and O’Bosky. She also might need ankle surgery.

Miller’s dog, Oso, was also in the vehicle during the crash and is said to be OK.

The medical conditions of the other drivers and the passenger were not immediately available Wednesday. The Idaho Statesman reached out to ISP for additional information.

The crash happened at Milepost 7 and blocked traffic on Idaho 44 for roughly two and a half hours, according to state police. An investigation is ongoing.
