‘Horrorscope’ study links serial killers and their astrological signs

Is your crawlspace filled with the mutilated bodies of stragglers who were in the wrong place at the wrong time? You are such a Capricorn!

A study of 485 serial killers reportedly found a correlation between those murderers and their astrological signs. To be sure, that’s not the same as a clinically tested causal link between psychopathic behavior and birthdates. But with Halloween coming, real-life horror takes a backseat to Ouija boards, ghosts, goblins and the brighter side of darkness.

Astrology-Zodiac-Signs.com reports the star signs Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio and Sagittarius accounted for 46 serial killers each, which makes up 38% of the total number of such psychos. Taurus and Geminis each claimed a relatively modest 27 serial killers among their ranks. That accounts for only 11% of the number studied. The astrology website said their list looked at killers known to have committed a total of 5,125 murders.

Scorpios — people born between Oct. 23 and Nov. 21 — are said to represent the least surprising star sign to go on a killing spree.

“Many people who follow astrology likely won’t be surprised to find Scorpio at the top of this list, given that the sign’s biggest weaknesses include violence, manipulation, and jealousy,” the study said.

The most prolific Scorpio serial killer on the list was Belle Gunness, who is believed to have killed at least 14 people, mostly Midwestern men, around the turn of the 20th century.

That isn’t to say Scorpios have run up the highest body count of any Zodiac sign. That designation goes to Capricorns.

Despite accounting for four fewer serial killers than Scorpios, maniacs born between Dec. 22 and Jan. 19 are reportedly responsible for 813 corpses. That’s an average of 19 victims per killer. Scorpio serial slayers only killed 537 people.

Dean Corll of Texas is perhaps the most notorious Capricorn killer. He is believed to have tortured and killed 28 boys and young men before dying in Pasadena in 1973.

Gemini, Taurus and Virgo serial killers combined to kill fewer than 300 people, though Jeffrey Dahmer — one of the world’s most infamous criminal deviants — was a Gemini. He silenced 17 victims before himself being killed in prison.

A California serial killer who dubbed himself the Zodiac is believed to be responsible for the deaths of five people in 1968 and 1969. Since that person’s identity remains unknown, their zodiac sign remains a mystery, too. A group of private investigators believed they’d ID’d the perp in early October. Law enforcement officials say the case remains open.

The pandemic has caused an “unprecedented boom” in the Astrology business, according to Astrology-Zodiac-Signs.com. Business Insider reports that reading stars has grown into a $2.2 billion industry.

Astrology Zodiac Signs senior astrologer Iva Vucinic told The News by email that astrology is a “language of symbols” that can be connected to certain traits and traumas. In “extreme cases” that might influence a serial killer. But she said her team’s study was specific to recorded serial killers and is not meant to be predictive in terms of the general population.

“The probability of ever meeting a serial killer in our lifetime is unlikely,” Vucinic adds.

For example, having a Nov. 24 birthday like Ted Bundy (a Sagittarius) will not make someone a serial killer, she notes.

“This is not how astrology works,” Vucinic said. “Still, if you choose a roommate with their sun in Pisces, it might be wise to ask them about their sleeping routine so that you are not at risk to discover their personal killing tendencies.”
