Chris Johnson, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound senior shooting guard from Montverde (Florida) Academy, will announce his college choice Tuesday, he reported Saturday on Instagram.

Time of the announcement will be 2 p.m., according to Joe Tipton of On3.com.

Kansas is trending as the favorite for Johnson, who made an official campus visit to KU on Monday-Wednesday. He has made just one other official visit — to LSU last November. Since then, the Tigers have brought in a new coaching staff. He also made an unofficial visit to Arkansas in 2021, On3.com reports.

Johnson, according to On3.com, has a list of KU, Kansas State, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, UConn, Auburn, Texas A&M, TCU, LSU, Houston, Creighton, Georgia and others.

Originally from Fort Bend, Texas, Johnson is ranked No. 24 in the recruiting Class of 2023 according to ESPN.com, No. 32 by 247sports.com and No. 58 by Rivals.com.

“They love my game and they’ve been on me pretty much a year and a half. I love that (KU) coaching staff,” Johnson said in a recent interview with Rivals.com.

Assistant Jeremy Case has been KU’s lead recruiter for Johnson.

“He’s a real down-to-earth guy. He’s cool, but he lets you know the real. He doesn’t sugarcoat things,” Johnson said.

After Chris’ visit to KU, his dad Chester told Shay Wildeboor of Jayhawkslant.com: “Me, personally, as his father, I’m hoping that he does sign there (KU). I don’t see another place that is going to treat him like he was treated and be real with him. One of the most winningest coaches ever (in Bill Self) and when you get that kind of publicity and somebody wants you like that, I don’t think you can ask for anything more.”

Chris Johnson also spoke about KU to On3.com.

“Kansas ... they have created the blueprint. Knowing they want me that bad, it stands out. Knowing how much they want me there is a blessing.”

What’s Johnson looking for in a school?

“A brotherhood,” he told On3.com. “I want a program that will allow me to come in and compete. The location won’t matter, as long as they will let me get out there and play.”

Kaden Cooper’s list of 10 includes KU, K-State

Kaden Cooper, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound senior small forward from Skill Factory Prep School in Atlanta, has narrowed his list of prospective colleges to 10.

He told On3.com he’s considering Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Gonzaga, LSU, Alabama, Memphis and Georgia Tech.

Cooper — he is originally from Ada, Oklahoma — at one time had Missouri, UCLA, Iowa, UConn and Houston on his list. He is ranked No. 36 in the recruiting Class of 2023 according to Rivals.com, No. 38 by On3.com and No. 45 by 247sports.com.

Cooper told On3.com he’s planning on visiting KU, LSU and Texas. He’s already visited Gonzaga and Oklahoma.
