HomeGoods sets opening date for new Columbia-area store. Here’s when it will debut

A national chain that offers furniture, home decor, accessories and other items has set a date for the opening of its latest Midlands store.

HomeGoods is set to open a store at 4840 Forest Drive at Trenholm Plaza in Forest Acres, according to a post on the store locator tool on the company’s website.

“New store opening on November 10, 2022 from 8am to 10pm!” the message on the HomeGoods website notes.

This will be the third HomeGoods location in the Columbia area. The others are 340 Harbison Blvd. in the Harbison shopping district and at 321-10 Forum Drive in northeast Columbia.

The Forest Acres HomeGoods will be more than 23,000 square feet and will have 65 full-time and part-time employees, the company said in a release.

“Our amazing values, brand names, and vast assortment make HomeGoods an exciting destination for shoppers,” HomeGoods president John Ricciuti said in a statement. “With a large variety of merchandise from around the world, customers will always find thrilling values in our treasure hunt shopping experience. We are happy to provide Columbia, SC with a new HomeGoods.”

There are nearly 850 HomeGoods nationwide.

This will be the second large, national tenant to make a recent debut in the trendy Trenholm Plaza. Beauty supply giant Sephora opened a spot in the plaza earlier in October. The Home Goods and Sephora are occupying the space previously held by Stein Mart.

HomeGoods, part of a company that also includes TJ Maxx, Marshalls and other stores, carries a host of furniture, rugs, lighting, kitchen and dining accessories, seasonal decor and more. The company’s website is currently touting its “merry and bright” holiday decor ahead of the upcoming Christmas season.
