‘Home run hire.’ Royals fans share thoughts on new KC manager Matt Quatraro
Twenty-five days after the Royals fired Mike Matheny, the franchise found its new manager.
Matt Quatraro was hired Sunday as the team’s skipper. Quatraro has been the Rays’ bench coach for the previous four seasons after spending one years as Tampa Bay’s third-base coach.
Before joining the Rays, Quatraro was the assistant hitting coach for Cleveland from 2014-17.
Most Royals fans hailed the move.

He was the most logical choice. Raul would’ve been cool. Bannister too, but Raul opted out again after the Miami interview and I don’t think Bannister is going anywhere, so out of the actual candidates…Quatraro was the best choice. No one is mad about this and that’s amazing.
