'Home Improvement' Alum Jonathan Taylor Thomas Spotted for the First Time in 2 Years

Jonathan Taylor Thomas

During the '90sJonathan Taylor Thomas was a teen heartthrob with plenty of success in the box office and on TV screens. The former child actor scored big with Lion KingHome Improvement, Man of the House and Tom and Huck but has retreated to relative obscurity in recent decades. That is, until JTT was recently spotted in public for the first time in more than two years.

On Wednesday, Nov. 29, Thomas, 42, was photographed in Southern California. Photos obtained by E! News show the actor carrying a hot beverage tumbler while wearing a beige sweater over a green shirt, a pair of jeans, sneakers and a beanie.

The new paparazzi pictures mark the first time Thomas has been publicly sighted since June 2021, when he was photographed walking two small dogs in Los Angeles.

Prior to his 2021 sighting, Thomas made a cameo on Tim Allen's since-canceled sitcom Last Man Standing in 2015. It was somewhat of a Home Improvement reunion, as his former onscreen mom, Patricia Richardson, appeared on the same episode.

In 2013, JTT opened up about his decision to step back from the spotlight of his child stardom.

"I'd been going nonstop since I was 8 years old," he told People. "I wanted to go to school, to travel and have a bit of a break."

Thomas studied at Harvard University and the University of St Andrews in Scotland before graduating with a bachelor's degree from Columbia University in 2010.

"I never took the fame too seriously," he continued. "It was a great period in my life, but it doesn't define me. When I think back on the time, I look at it with a wink. I focus on the good moments I had, not that I was on a lot of magazine covers."
