Home and Away sets up Dean and Ziggy's exits from Summer Bay

Home and Away spoilers follow for UK viewers.

Home and Away kicks off Dean Thompson and Ziggy Astoni's exit storyline on UK screens next week.

The popular couple have already left the show at Australian pace, but have remained on screen in the UK for longer due to Channel 5's transmission gap.

Next week, some surprising news from Dean's ex Amber Simmons threatens to change everything.

Dean is shocked to learn that Amber has landed a new job in Far North Queensland and will be moving in a week's time.

As the news sinks in, Dean works out that this will mean being a 21-hour drive away from his young son Jai, who lives with Amber.

Ziggy questions whether Amber can make the move without Dean's permission, but he's pessimistic over their chances of changing anything at this late stage.

Shortly afterwards, Ziggy overhears an emotional Dean talking to baby Izzy about her big brother.

Ziggy is heartbroken as she wonders how to keep Dean's full family together.

These scenes pave the way for Dean and Ziggy to leave Home and Away for good in early May.

Patrick O'Connor and Sophie Dillman filmed their final scenes in the roles last year and their exits aired on Australian screens in March.

The real-life couple have since moved to the UK to pursue other career opportunities.

Writing on Instagram last month, Patrick commented: "Well my friends, my time as a River Boy has come to an end.

"To @louise.bowes the woman who made it all possible, what a character you made. A boy from a broken family, now a man off on [a] new adventure of raising his own. Thank you for inducting me into the Blood & Sand.

"To the producers, cast and crew, I can't thank you enough for staring at my big mug the last five and a bit years and giving me such a rare opportunity. It's been such an incredible place to work, I miss it a lot, but more so the people I met along the way. I made some really good friends.

"Lastly to the fans, there would be no show without you. You truly have made the experience unforgettable. Thank you for the support, I'll always remember the love #alwaysariverboy".

"The biggest thank you goes to the fans. We only get to do what we do because of your support. I will be forever grateful."
