Holy Trinity Catholic Church's 30th annual Red Mass honors Shreveport Martyrs

A Shreveport church held a special mass May 3 in honor of Shreveport Martyrs.

Holy Trinity Catholic Church held its 30th annual Red Mass, which was presided over by Cardinal Christophe Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States.

During this mass, five priest were honored for taking care of people during the 1873 yellow fever epidemic.

The Red Mass is a Catholic Church tradition that is held annually to gather legal professionals, lawmakers and members of judiciary to reflect on the power and responsibility of all in the legal profession.

This mass had legal professionals from all over Louisiana. State Supreme Court Justice Scott Crichton and Judge Carl Stewart of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit were in attendance.
