Hollyoaks star Jeremy Sheffield returning to soap despite Patrick Blake's death

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Jeremy Sheffield is set to return to the soap despite his character Patrick Blake's death.

The village's iconic villain was last seen in 2016, when he was shockingly killed by murderous granddaughter Nico, and is now making his anticipated return.

A source told Digital Spy that Patrick will not be returning from the dead for his upcoming appearance, but Sheffield will still reappear in some capacity.

"Patrick is one of the most unsettling and frightening, but captivating villains Hollyoaks and the soap genre has ever had," a source told Metro. "It seemed a no brainer for the team at Hollyoaks to find a way to bring Jeremy back to the cast to tell this story.

"It's just one of the many big new storylines that bosses have up their sleeves to put Hollyoaks back on the map for 2024, it's an exciting time for viewers."

Fans will have to wait and see how Sienna's troublesome father makes his entrance – whether that be in ghost form, flashback or as a long lost twin brother.

Prior to his death, fans will remember the torment Patrick inflicted on his family. He notably abused ex-wife Maxine Minniver as well as fathering her young daughter, Minnie. He also locked Sienna up and stopped her from finding her long-lost daughter, who ended the villain's reign of terror shortly after his Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis.

Ahead of Patrick's return, daughter Sienna has been caught in an ongoing storyline with Lord Rafe.

In the show's latest trailer, Sienna is greeted with two marriage proposals and when she ultimately picks Rafe as her husband-to-be, a shocking revelation about his life is set to turn things upside down for the village stalwart.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
