Holland's Kirk Cousins agrees to four-year deal with Atlanta Falcons, exits Minnesota

Kirk Cousins is headed south.

The quarterback from Holland has signed with the Atlanta Falcons, according to his agent Mike McCartney, who posted news of the deal on social media.

The deal is for four years, according to McCartney. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the deal is four years with $180 million, with $100 million guaranteed - $45 million per season.

Cousins, 35, has been the Vikings quarterback for the past six years. The Holland Christian and Michigan State graduate ranks second in team history in touchdown passes and third in games started by a quarterback. He is a four-time Pro Bowler, with three coming as a Viking.

"After significant and positive dialogue with Kirk and his representatives, we were unable to reach an agreement on a contract that fits the short and long-term visions for both Kirk and the Minnesota Vikings," Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said in a release. "Kirk holds a special place in Vikings history, and we appreciate his leadership and contributions to the team and the Minneapolis-St. Paul community over the past six seasons. We wish him, his wife, Julie, and their children all the best."

Cousins saw his season come to a premature end on Oct. 29, when he tore his right Achilles tendon in a game against Green Bay.

In Minnesota, his record was 50-37-1 as a starter. Of his 270 career touchdown passes, 171 came with Minnesota and he had a 67.9 completion percentage in purple, along with a 101.2 quarterback rating.
