Holiday highlights from Erie County's top-performing high school athletes from Dec. 27-30

The holiday week is traditionally the ripest time for basketball and wrestling tournaments during District 10's winter sports season.

Here are some of the Top Performers among Erie County athletes during that span:

Boys basketball

Carter Crozier, North East: He scored 14 points when the Grapepickers defeated Lakeview 48-34 in the opening semifinal of Iroquois’ C. Thomas Barringer Classic.

Colton Carpenter, Iroquois: He recorded 12 points for the host Braves when they beat Union City 55-22 in the semifinals of the C. Thomas Barringer Classic.

Rylan Smith, Corry: He totaled 20 points for the Beaves when they defeated Northwestern 58-21 in the semifinals of their holiday tournament.

Tyler Grove, McDowell: Before and after the program honored its 1998-99 team that reached the PIAA Class 4A final, he scored 30 points during the Trojans’ 76-45 victory vs. General McLane at Paul Goll Gymnasium.

Spencer Kanne, Cathedral Prep: He scored 18 points for the Ramblers when they defeated Ohio’s Austintown Fitch 69-58 at Mullen Gymnasium.

Girls basketball

Makayla Presser-Palmer, Northwestern: Her mammoth 37-point performance was the difference for the Wildcats when they beat Pisgah (Alabama) during the Winterfest Shootout at Sevierville, Tennessee.

Jillian Soder, Fort LeBoeuf: The Bison beat Portersville Christian 53-48 during Fairview’s Erie County Classic in part from her 21 points.

Alex Cozzens, North East: The Grapepickers, aided by her 18 points, defeated Corry 42-27 during the Erie County Classic at Fairview.

Addie Biel, Cathedral Prep: Her 20 points helped the Ramblers beat Foxborough (Massachusetts) 60-47 in a KSA tournament game at Orlando, Florida.

Emma Bleil, Seneca: She scored 11 points for the Bobcats, who beat the General McLane Lancers 43-39.

Paige Garrity, Fairview: All 18 of her points were from three-pointers when the host Tigers defeated Union City 49-27.

Brooke Przybylski, Harbor Creek: She was voted the most valuable player of Cranberry’s tournament after the Huskies beat Franklin 55-34 in the championship game.

Jayden McBride, Cathedral Prep: The Georgetown University recruit joined older sisters Kayla and Karlee as 1,000-point varsity scorers with her 28-point performance during the Ramblers’ 50-45 victory vs. Wasilla (Alaska) in a KSA tournament game at Orlando, Florida.
