Hoda Kotb Inspires Fans With Fresh Take on Turning 59
Hoda Kotb has a great perspective on life and aging, sharing it with Today show viewers on Monday.
As the newly-59-year-old spoke about what she felt as she celebrated her birthday on Aug. 9, she said she found herself focusing on the joys of life instead of stressing over aging.
"Here’s the great thing that I realized: I turned 59 this year and I am so happy to be 59," Kotb shared while chatting with co-host Jenna Bush Hager during the show's Aug. 14 episode. "I feel so good about it. If you’re worried about aging, and I know that aging’s a thing, 59 is amazing."
She recounted celebrating with her mother, two kids, siblings and nieces, with the entire crew staying at her house.
Kotb then noted a moment when she closed her eyes, saying, "I was thinking to myself, 'I’m 59 years old. I have two incredible kids, I’ve got my mom here, my sister, my brother, my nieces, my sister-in-law,' and I kept thinking to myself, ‘I’m smiling. I'm closing my eyes and I'm smiling.' And if you do that, you know that there's a lot of good things ahead. I feel like this year's going to be fantastic."
"Haley was screaming, 'My mom's 59.' I was like, 'Yes, I am. I am. I am.' And I'm so glad that I get to be this," Kotb further shared. "I was thinking about how important it is just to think about your life daily instead of down the road. I feel like that's what I've been doing lately."
Kotb ended the conversation by concretely declaring, "59 is glorious."
After the Today With Hoda & Jenna Instagram account shared the clip online, fans were greatly inspired by Kotb's words and commended her attitude toward life.
"No one is in a better head space than Hoda," said a fan, while another wrote, "Gosh almighty, what an important message to be shared. 🙌🔥❤️ #happybirthdayhoda."
A third proclaimed, "Hoda is a national treasure. Protect her at all costs. 🥰."
Many more shared something similar, and there were also plenty of well-wishes in celebration of Kotb's 59th birthday.
