The Georgia Department of Public Health, Environmental Health Section, conducts regular restaurant inspections to help keep residents and visitors safe.

The following is a list of restaurants in Richmond and Columbia counties that have been inspected between Nov. 21 and 28, accompanied by their scores and, in some cases, the health infractions that lowered those scores.

Inspector's comments: "Out of ... sanitizer, no sanitizer in third compartment of sink. Brought bleach from housekeeping; set up sink with 100 ppm bleach sanitizer.

"Observed cold-held food temperatures between 47 F (cream cheese in display and 2-door cooler), 69 F (shredded cheddar cheese on counter w/o temperature control). Cheddar discarded, cream cheese moved to lower part of cooler, air temp was 40-41 F in both coolers.

Fat Mans Mill Café, 1450 Greene St., Ste. 600: 87

Inspector's comments: "Observed containers of food stored on shelving rack and on the steam well not covered. Store and keep foods covered at all times."

"Observed black buildup inside the bulk ice machine. Clean the ice machine ASAP. Increase cleaning frequency."

"Observed Hot Shot bug killer stored in the kitchen. Ensure commercial grade pest control measures are used by a licensed pest control operator."

"Observed wet nesting of clean dishes in the kitchen. Allow dishes to properly air dry before stacking."

"Observed grease buildup inside the vent/hood and on equipment. Clean all equipment. Increase cleaning frequency."

"Observed flies and live roaches in the kitchen. Hire a professional pest control operator to get rid of pests and/or determine an effective method to get rid of pests."

Bodega Ultima, 353 Highland Ave.: 80

Inspector's comments: "Observed multiple foods being stored in boxes on walk-in cooler floor. All foods must remain at least 6 inches off of the floor at all times."

"Observed food items in prep cooler closest to dish machine and in walk-in cooler stored without covering. Store all foods with covering to protect against contamination."

"Observed toxic substances being stored near hand washing sink. All toxic substances must be stored and separately."

"Wet wiping cloth not stored in sanitizing solution between uses. Advised manager to store soiled linen in sani buckets."
