Hippy Dippy Creamery adding new location

Hippy Dippy Creamery is not closing its Marysville location, but rather it is gaining a new one.

Hippy Dippy Creamery will now have an additional location in Fort Gratiot. There were rumors that Hippy Dippy would be closing its Marysville location to move to Fort Gratiot. This, however, is far from the case. Owners Matthew and Jamie Faulkner said they love the Marysville community and have zero intention of leaving, but they wanted to expand into a new area. Both said they are excited for this fun and challenging venture.

"I can't say enough about the community in Marysville," Jamie Faulkner said. "They've been so supportive of us, and I hope that we can bring that to Fort Gratiot."

The Faulkners hope the Fort Gratiot community comes to enjoy the space.

The Hippy Dippy Creamery Fort Gratiot location can be found at 3900 Pine Grove Ave., which is the old location of Country Style Market. Once open, its summer hours are planned to be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Tentatively, the Faulkners want to open the Fort Gratiot location by the end of May. They are currently waiting on permit approvals from the township. Once they get that, however, they expect things to go quickly.

"Everyone is ready to go," Matthew Faulkner said. "Our goal is to have people's jaws drop when they come in here."

The new location will have the same vibe as the Marysville location, with the colorful walls, neon signs and artwork. The Faulkners said they now have more space to play with at the Fort Gratiot location for these things. As such, the new location will have more freezer space for ice cream pints, a dedicated ice cream cake freezer and a party room that can be reserved if desired.

The Fort Gratiot location will offer 48 flavors, with around six being non-dairy, vegan or sugar-free.

The Faulkners also plan to have the same contests at the Fort Gratiot location that they have at the Marysville location. They are already taking submissions for the annual mural contest for both locations. Students between sixth and 12th grade can submit artwork for the mural.

The students must be located in the Marysville area for the Marysville location and the Port Huron or Fort Gratiot area for the Fort Gratiot location.

Matthew and Jamie Faulkner said they are very excited for the new location to open. As residents of Fort Gratiot, they said they are looking forward to bringing an ice cream place to their home community.

The Marysville location is at 312 Huron Blvd.
