Hingham's payroll: Who made the most money in 2023

HINGHAM − Six of the town's 10 highest-paid employees last year were police officers due to overtime work and paid road details that pushed their salaries over $200,000.

In the calendar year 2023, 137 Hingham employees were paid $100,000 or more, and 50 employees made at least $150,000, according to salary data provided by the town. Eleven employees made more than $200,000, including six police officers.

Overtime and police details figured heavily into most of the town's top earners. Police Chief David Jones declined to comment for this story.

Other employees who made more than $200,000 include the town administrator, a fire captain and three employees of Hingham Municipal Lighting Plant, which is a separate entity funded through electricity bills, not property taxes.

In total, the town paid $31.4 million in salaries, stipends and one-time payments in calendar year 2023.
