Well, folks, Sophie Tompkins may no longer be on the lookout for love.
The season 2 finale aired on Hulu in July, and it came with some twists fans both did and didn't expect. Viewers witnessed Sophie (Hilary Duff) finally confess her resurfaced feelings for Jesse (Christopher Lowell), resulting in a kiss worthy of a romantic comedy. Meanwhile, Sid (Suraj Sharma) and his wife Hannah (Ashley Reyes) split after she suspected something happened between him and Sophie. But in the biggest shock, folks learned that currently single Valentina (Francia Raisa) not only made out with Sophie's ex Drew (Josh Peck), but she got back together with her last boyfriend Charlie (Tom Ainsley) in a flash forward only a future Sophie (Kim Cattrall) could deliver.

While there's no official announcement about How I Met Your Father season 3, it's possible Hulu will renew it after the series received major recognition at the 2023 Primetime Emmy Awards. In an announcement posted on the show's Instagram, it was revealed that How I Met Your Father earned 3 nominations ahead of the September 18 ceremony.
"#HIMYF has received 3 nominations at the upcoming #Emmys!" the series' social team wrote on July 12. "Outstanding Picture Editing for a Comedy Series - Russell Griffin. Outstanding Cinematography for a Multi-Camera Series (Half-Hour) - Gary Baum. Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Program (Half-Hour)."
When actress Kim Cattrall saw the news online, she went to the comments section to share her excitement about it. "Fantastic!!!" she ecstatically replied.
Fans of the show were equally excited over How I Met Your Father's success. Some also took the opportunity to ask a major question about its future. "We definitely deserve a S3 after this," one person wrote on Instagram. "That’s what you deserve! 😍 Now give us season 3 🥹🥹🥹," another added. "This is the confirmation that this show deserves another season 🤞🏽💗," a different follower declared.

Season 2 conclusion with the revelation that Lori and Nick were dating years after having a one-night stand at Lollapalooza that resulted in Sophie's conception. What's more, Sophie finally found Nick after spending the majority of her life not knowing his identity.
Do Sophie and Jesse get together in How I Met Your Mother season 3?
In the season 2 finale, fans learned that Sophie still had feelings for Jesse after a tumultuous relationship that didn't really begin. Like the season before, she had an a-ha moment before declaring her love for the musician in the middle of a hurricane outside of Pemberton's. To make the moment even more picturesque, the two shared a heartfelt kiss and implied they were a couple once more.
Although it's not clear whether Sophie and Jesse will be together come season 3, Hilary did mention how much she adores her character's willingness to take risks for love.
"She’s so open-hearted and open-minded, and I love that,” she told Shape in June. "She’s not afraid to look dumb, and I feel like in this world of being scared to fail, we're also afraid to take chances … she still has this childlike quality where she’s unafraid of that."
