Hilton Head’s Mayor Pro-Tem won’t seek reelection, ending 8 years on town council
Mayor Pro-tem and Ward 3 Hilton Head Town Council Member David Ames won’t seek reelection next term, he confirmed over email Tuesday.
In November, when his term is up, it will be eight years since he was elected to the role in 2016 as a 72-year-old. He is Mayor Pro-tem, meaning that if Mayor Alan Perry is unable to serve his role, Ames would fill in.
Ames declined an interview about why he isn’t seeking reelection, emailing that he wants to wait before speaking on it.
Ames represents Shipyard, Wexford, Long Cove Club, Yacht Cove, Brighten Bay, Coligny Circle, Cordillo Parkway East, North Forest Beach, Old House Creek, Palmetto Bay Road East, Pope Avenue, South Forest Beach and Timbercrest.
