Hillsborough man found along Amwell Road may have died of natural causes

HILLSBOROUGH - Police say a medical issue may have been the cause of death for a 66-year-old township man who was found dead Monday afternoon near the intersection of Amwell Road and Route 206.

The New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death of the Eves Drive resident, police said. The name of the man has not been released.

At about 4:23 p.m. Monday, police received a report from pedestrians of an unknown man unresponsive in the grass area between the Shell station at the intersection and the Bank of America near the eastbound lane of Amwell Road.

The man, who was dressed in black, was lying face down and was not easily visible from the road, police said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Hillsborough Township Police Department which said there is no concern for public safety.
