Hilarie Burton Defends 'Sister' Sophia Bush Amid Cheating Claims

Hilarie Burton came to Sophia Bush's defense as the latter's romantic life has recently shifted into the spotlight.
While many fans were shocked to learn the details surrounding Bush's new romance, her past relationships are now being scrutinized as Erin Foster accused the actress of hooking up with One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray while the two were still dating.
"I mean he definitely cheated on me with [Bush] in, like, a pretty egregious way," Foster, 41, said of Murray during her World’s First Podcast, claiming that she and Murray were living together at the time. She added, "I’ve moved on though, I’m over it. Just barely."
Well, Burton, also 41, had a lot to say to Foster, posting to her Instagram stories on Friday, Oct. 20, "Ooof. Cringe. I got off my red eye flight home and multiple people had sent me this headline. As the person who had a front row seat then? This wasn’t it."
"We were all told you’d broken up which is why our guy was perusing [SIC] her. Now this is being spun to make my sister look like a brazen harlot. And if she’s anyone’s harlot, it’s mine!" Burton went on, per Us Weekly.

The actress then tagged Foster and told her that she was “happy to discuss" before concluding, "There are so many unnamed sources making claims about the woman I love, so f—k it. I’ll be a named source. Lotta internet voices being nasty, and as the person who knows the real timeline? It would be laughable if it wasn’t so hurtful.”
Foster and Murray started dating in 2001, while the Sullivan's Crossing star met Bush on the set of One Tree Hill in 2003, and their relationship reportedly took off soon after. Bush and Murray, now 42, married in 2005, although they split not too long after.
Bush later married Grant Hughes in 2022, whom she filed for divorce from in August, just weeks before the 41-year-old's budding romance with soccer player Ashlyn Harris was captivated by mainstream media.
As of writing, neither Bush nor Murray responded to Foster's allegations.
