Hiker who went missing in California dies after she is rescued: report
A hiker who went missing near a California mountain trail before she was found Saturday has died, according to a local report.
Cassandra Bravo, of Riverside, Calif., spent two nights in the chilly air off the Mount Whitney Trail before she was found at the base of a slope, The Mercury News reported.
She was taken to the Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, Calif., where she died at age 34, according to The Mercury News.
According to a GoFundMe page that has raised more than $40,000, Bravo was a single mother who worked as a nurse. The GoFundMe page said that the fundraiser was launched to support Bravo’s two children.
“Those of us that knew Cassandra knew she was a FIGHTER and STRONG. We know she fought to stay alive,” the GoFundMe page read. “She was an amazing person with a take it or leave it personality that really enjoyed life.”
