HIGH SCHOOL TRACK: District meet results, schedule

The road to the UIL State Track & Field Meet officially started this week for several local athletes with District 9-2A and District 22-A holding its respective championship meet.

By Thursday, every district meet in the Wichita Falls area will be completed. The top four finishers in each event advance to the area meet.

Area meets consist of two neighboring districts combining to pit their top four performers in each event against each other. The top four finishers from that event advance to regional meets.

The fat is trimmed more at regional meets with only the top two finishers in each event earning an automatic berth to state. However, each third-place medalist is eligible for a wild card entry to state with the individual with the best third-place performance among the state’s four regions earning that berth.

The UIL State Track & Field Meet is set for May 2-4 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.

Here is the schedule for local district, area and regional meets with local teams participating in parenthesis. Schedule is subject to change.
