Online voting for the Varsity 845 softball player of the week for April 22-28 is now open. Go to RecordOnline.com/sports and vote as often as you like until 11 p.m. on Sunday (no computer bot voting, please).

Nominations are pulled from reports to Varsity 845 and other sources. Players from Orange, Ulster and Sullivan counties, plus Delaware Valley (Pa.) are eligible. Only one nomination per school is permitted each week. This week the poll is split into large- and small schools.'

Varsity 845 softball player of the week candidates (large)

Charley Callahan, Wallkill

She hit a single, double, homer and had four RBI as the Panthers rolled Rondout Valley 26-16 on Monday. She had a double in an 8-3 loss to Roosevelt on Tuesday.

Stefanie Cogswell, Saugerties

She had a homer, two singles and three RBI as the Sawyers topped Chatham 11-5 on Tuesday.

Bethannie French, Middletown

She tossed a seven-hitter, fanning seven as the Bears beat Pine Bush 9-0 on Wednesday. She got the 4-1 win over Newburgh on Friday.

Alana Hayes, Cornwall

She had a homer, three singles, three runs and six RBI to lift the Dragons over Monticello 22-5 on Wednesday.

Valerie Pedersen, Monroe-Woodbury

She struck out 14 batters, surpassing 100 for this season, to lift the Crusaders past Pine Bush 3-0 on Friday.

Jalyn Rosario, Warwick

She posted a five-hitter and struck out 11 as the Wildcats downed Washingtonville 10-1 on Friday.

Lauren Schoonmaker, Rondout Valley

She had a double, three singles and five RBI in the Ganders’ 26-16 loss to Wallkill on Monday.

Emily Sharpe, Valley Central

She tossed a two-hitter and fanned 11 as the Vikings beat Washingtonville 13-1 on Monday.

Payton Thompson, Port Jervis

She had three hits to help Port down Washingtonville 10-0 on Wednesday. The next day she drove in seven runs on the strength of two singles and two doubles in a 28-4 win over Liberty.

Victoria Bonitz, Ellenville

She won a two-hitter, striking out nine as the Blue Devils beat Liberty 13-1 on Monday. On Thursday, she tossed a three-hitter, struck out 11 and posted a double, three singles and two RBI in a 15-0 win over Livingston Manor.

Jenna Carmody, Tri-Valley

She struck out 13 and allowed just one earned run as TV nipped Chapel Field 7-6 on Monday. On Tuesday, she had three hits, two RBI and struck out seven in a 14-9 win over Burke Catholic.

Karlee Diehl, Sullivan West

She had a single, two doubles and four RBI as Sullivan West beat Liberty 17-1 on Saturday.

Molly Farley, Chester

She had a single, double, homer and five RBI as the Hambletonians topped O’Neill 11-4 on Wednesday. On Friday, she stuck out six and added three hits as the Hambos beat Wallkill 5-2.

Emma Spanjer, Chapel Field

Twenty strikeouts and a one-hitter highlighted Spanjer’s day as Chapel Field routed Livingston Manor 11-0 on Wednesday.

Chloe Warming, Eldred

She won a three-hitter and drove in three runs as the Yellowjackets stung Burke 14-2 on Wednesday.

Angie Wheeler, Liberty

She struck out 12 and added two hits and an RBI as Liberty beat Livingston Manor 10-2 on Saturday.
