BASEBALL

Division I

La Salle 7, Smithfield 4

Nate Bautista was 1-4 with 3 RBIs and Manny Oliver and Brady Collins each drove home runs as well, as the Rams piled on four runs in the fourth to help seal their win over the Sentinels in Division I. On the mound, Michael Mita struck out 5 and allowed 4 earned runs for the victory. For Smithfield, Jackson Chamberlin was 2-3, with 3 RBIs, and pitched 4 innings (with 3 strikeouts) in the loss.

Hendricken 6, Portsmouth 0

Cooper Maher and Alexander Asermely combined to pitch a 2-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts between them as the Hawks rolled to a 6-0 victory over the Patriots. Ryan Thompson took care of much of the Hendricken offense as he had three hits, including a homerun, an knocked in 4 runs.

North Kingstown 3, Cranston West 2

It took 9 innings, but Skippers starting pitcher Ben Davis singled home Quincy Rome in the bottom of the 9th for the walk-off win. On the mound, Davis sprayed 3 hits over six innings allowing only 2 runs. Chris Ciarinello earned the win on the mound with 3 innings of no-hit ball. Davis and Rome each had 2 hits for NK (8-4). Alex Milano plated a run with a double for the Falcons (6-7).

Coventry 10, Mt. Hope 1

The Oakers' Ryan Pina tossed a complete game 1 hitter to lead Coventry to their 7th win of the season. Supporting Pina's superb outing were Anthony Colucci, Aiden Wilkins, Griffin Frenze and Logan Moore, who each had multiple-hit games in the win. Brian Abruzzi had the lone hit for the Huskies with a single in the 4th inning.

Division II

Barrington 5, Chariho 4

Luke Tanous singled, doubled and drove in 2 runs as the Eagles edged the Chargers. Miles Fontaine was 2-for-4 for Barrington (9-3) while Trevor Snow tripled. Gabe Tanous earned his second save in two opportunities as he struck out the side for the second consecutive game. Gavin Apiece was 2-for-3 with 1 RBI and Boone Bessette was 2-for-4 for Chariho (5-7).

Division III

Rogers 3, North Smithfield 0

The Vikings (8-4) struck early, plating 3 runs in the top of the first to take an early lead. That was all the run support Conor Donahue and Ben Bourgueta would need, as the pair combined for a no-hitter in blanking the Northmen (6-7). Donahue struck out 9 over 5 innings and Bourgueta finished with 2 perfect frames. Donahue and Trenton Carter were each 3-4 at the plate with 3 RBIs for Rogers. North Smithfield's Kyle Artruc struck out 9 in the loss.

West Warwick 10, Davies 0

Joseph Riviera led the offense, going 2-3 with 3 RBIs for the still-undefeated Wizards. Logan Dean was 1-4 with a pair of RBIs and Kody Fretts went 2-3 with an RBI. On the mound, three WW pitchers combined to throw 5 innings in the mercy-rule shortened contest, with Zach LaBonte earning the win (2.2 innings, 2 strikeouts). In his first start as a high schooler, Davies (3-8) sophomore Blake Dexter kept the Wizards (13-0) off balance for four innings before West Warwick scored six runs in the fifth inning.

Division I

Smithfield 16, Cumberland 13

The Sentinels had a 13-5 lead thru 4 innings but had to hold on as the Clippers outscored them 8-3 in final 2 1/2 innings. Leading the way for Smithfield were Crystal Cacador, who was 3-for-5 with runs scored and 2 RBI and Lily Riggin who was 4-4 with an RBI. Also contributing to the win were Sophia Parrillo, Madeline Bose and Ella Desjardins with 2 RBI apiece. For Cumberland, Piper Barata had 2 hits and 3 RBI and Cadence Hebert, Campbell Feather and Olivia Sturtevant each drove in two runs.

Division II

Johnston 13, BNS0

Winning pitcher Haley Boudreau and Arianna Velasquez each went 4-for-4 with two triples and 4 RBI apiece and Boudreau also homered, as Johnston posted a decisive win in a five-inning game shortened by the mercy rule. Kaylin Foster also homered for the Panthers, and Alexia DiLorenzo drove in three runs on three hits and scored three times. Johnston improves to 6-3. while Burrillville/NS falls to 1-7 in league play.

Westerly 11, Narragansett 1

The Bulldogs’ offense gave Sophia Valentini all the support she’d need in a 10-1 win over the Mariners.

Westerly scored six runs over the first two innings and never looked back. Emma Caracciolo got things started with a two-run RBI single in the first and Tori Gabriele later drove in two with a two-out single of her own.

In the second inning, the Bulldogs picked up a run after a Narragansett error and Lillian Vetelino followed with a sac fly that scored Caracciolo to make it 6-0.

It was more than enough for Valentini, who threw all five innings of the mercy-rule shortened game. The senior ace struck out seven and gave up two hits and one run.

Caracciola blew up the box score, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Vetelino was 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI and Ella Keegan scored a pair of runs. Gabriele and Sara Arnold both drove home two runs in the win.

Grace Blessing drove home Payton Abrams with the lone run for the Mariners.

West Warwick 7, Woonsocket 1

The Wizards came up with a big answer, then put the game away late in a 7-1 win over Woonsocket.

Down 1-0 heading to the bottom of the third, West Warwick put together a rally in a hurry. Adrianna Carsetti led the inning off with a triple and scored on a bunt by Madison Walsh, who later scored on a single by Grace Gallo. After stealing second and taking third on a passed ball, Gallo scored on another passed ball to make it 3-1 after four.

The Wizards put things away in the sixth, scoring four runs. Walsh had an RBI single that was followed by an RBI double from Charlotte Horak, who then scored on a single by Gallo, who scored on a two-out single by Sarah Payan.

Emma Pinault threw a complete game for West Warwick, allowing five hits while striking out nine.

Jillian L’Etoile drove in the lone run for Woonsocket on a single that scored Skyla Caro.

Division III

Tiverton 11, Mount St. Charles 5

The Tigers offense took advantage of the Mounties’ poor defensive effort in an 11-5 win.

Tied at two, Tiverton scored three runs in the top of the third thanks to an RBI single by Eilish Condon that scored Sara Poland and a two-run error by Mount in the outfield.

The Tigers were nursing a two-run lead heading to fifth when it posted three more runs all off Mounties’ miscues. In the sixth, Tiverton put the game away thanks to two more Mount errors than led to three runs.

Poland had a big day for the Tigers, going 3-for-4 with three runs. Condon went 3-for-3 with two runs and 3 RBI in the win and Carlie Martin scored two runs.

Davies 22, Central 8

Kylie Robert had a monster game going 5-5 with 6 RBI, Madi Blanchette was also on base 5 times with two hits and three walks and Lauren Bradshaw went 2-3 with a single and double as the Patriots pounded Knights. For Central, Gabriella Rosario led Central with 3 hits, and Jaslene Nina, Iris Cruz and Jayleen White each drove in 2 runs in he loss. Blanchette, Davies catcher, also had a good night behind the plate as she threw out 4 runners trying to steal. Gabriella Rosario led Central with 3 hits in 4 at bats. Jaslene Nina, Iris Cruz and Jayleen White each drove in 2 runs.

BOYS LACROSSE

Division IV

Lincoln 19, East Providence 0

Danny London netted a game-high 8 goals and Matt Harmon added 2 goals and 3 assists as the Lions rolled past East Providence. With the win, Lincoln improves to 6-2, while EP slips to 3-9.

North Smithfield 9, Classical 2

GIRLS LACROSSE

Division I

Portsmouth 13, Prout 8

Emilie Bobola and Margaux Boneu each scored 4 goals and Nora Cooney found the back of the next twice in Portsmouth's win over Prout. Sylvia Mayo had a solid effort in defeat, as she scored a game-high 5 goals in the loss.

Barrington 21, South Kingstown 9

Anna Lombardi was unstoppable as the Eagles’ offense flew past the Rebels in a 21-9 win.

Lombardi had Barrington’s offense cooking, scoring seven goals to go with three assists. Stella Hillier had a strong performance as well, scoring six goals and finishing with three assists. Ashley DaCosta added three goals in the win.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Division I

North Smithfield 3, Chariho 1

The Northmen dropped the first set but bounced back clean and grinding out a 23-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-18 over the Chargers.

Caden Sullivan found a groove with the North Smithfield offense and dished out 42 assists to go with 10 kills. Tom Matchett let Northmen offense with 18 kills and added seven blocks while Connor DeSousa came up with 12 kills and 10 digs.

Kody Poplaski led Chariho with 15 kills and had 12 digs. Ricky Comolli had 31 assists in the loss and Jaxson Vachon added 19 digs

Division II

Westerly 3, Pilgrim 1

Jack Kenyon had 18 kills and 4 aces, James Manfredi had 24 assists, 4 digs and three kills leading the Bulldogs to victory over the Patriots, 25-16, 24-26, 25-11, 25-12. Jack Eaton had a solid outing for Pilgrim with 11 kills and 2 aces in the loss.

Cranston West 3, Central 0

Chris Harvey recorded 10 kills, 2 blocks, 3 digs and 2 aces, Christian Mak had 10 kills, 2 blocks 2 digs and 1 assist and Ashton Mak recorded 25 assists, 1 block and 3 digs in the Falcons, now 10-0, win over the Knights, 25-13, 25-13, 25-20. For Central, Jet Nascimento posted 17 kills, 2 blocks and 5 digs and Kimong Yang had 8 kills and 15 helpers in the loss.

Lincoln 3, Woonsocket 0

Lincoln's Wayne McNamara had 9 kills, 2 blocks and 8 digs, Jackson Colton recorded 9 blocks and 5 kills, and Austin Noel had 22 assists in the win, 25-19, 25-21, 25-21.

East Providence 3, Barrington 2

Trailing Barrington 2-0 after the first two sets, East Providence made a remarkable comeback to take the next sets to upend the Eagles, 19-25, 20-25, 28-26, 25-16, 15-12. DJ Lepine led the Townies with 20 kills and 12 digs, Jordan Rodriguez had 18 kills and 10 digs and Loden Broe dished off 42 assists.

Division III

Pawtucket 3, Hope 0

Led by the play of Julio Marito (9 kills, 5 digs, 1 ace, 1 block), Hayson Ortiz (5 kills, 5 aces, 4 digs) and Fernando Baptista (21 assists, 7 aces), the Pawtucket swept Hope, 25-7, 25-8, 25-6.
