BASEBALL

Division I

Cranston West 7, Smithfield 1

Alex Milano, Corey Blanchette and Logan Taylor combined to pitch a two-hitter as Cranston West rolled to victory over Smithfield. Milano, the starting pitcher, contributed to his own cause at the plate with a single, a bases-loaded walk and 3 RBI and teammate Brendon Smith also drove in a run with a successful suicide squeeze in the six-run fourth inning. The Falcons are now 2-2 and the Sentinels suffer their first loss of the year and slip to 3-1.

North Kingstown 6, La Salle 2

North Kingstown jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the first inning and didn't look back in its win over La Salle. Senior pitcher Will Creed was effective on the mound as he went 5⅔ innings, giving up only 4 hits and striking out 6. Leading the NK offense was Tucker Lamond with 2 hits and an RBI, Williem Andrews with 2 RBI and Blake Beattie, who also had an RBI. Tommy Malloy had 2 hits for LaSalle.

SOFTBALL

Division I

La Salle 15, East Providence 0

Kayleigh Gouchie's first start for the Rams was a memorable one. The freshman threw a no-hitter with 9 strikeouts and allowed only 2 walks over 5 innings. Pam Reichert's pinch-hit grand slam in the fourth inning was all the offense La Salle would need, but it got more. Phoenyx Silva went 3-for-4 with a double and triple and Giuliana Ialongo went 2-for-4 with a double and homer. The Rams improve to 3-0 in league play, 6-0 overall.

Prout 9, Smithfield 4

Freshman Lucy Kaiser went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and 3 RBI as Prout scored 8 of its 9 runs in the first 3 innings and ran away from Smithfield.

BOYS LACROSSE

Division II

Prout 10, Pilgrim 9

After Prout had built an 8-2 lead by halftime, the Patriots stormed back to force overtime. But Prout held on through four overtimes to clinch the victory. Mason Kermidas had 3 goals, including the game-winner after winning the face-off to start the fourth overtime period. Christos Stefanopoulos scored his first two goals of the season and Riley Smith added one goal and one assist. Teddy LeBlanc had 14 saves for the Crusaders. For Pilgrim, Marcus Walsh and Richard Cabral had 2 goals each.

Division IV

Scituate 14, Tiverton 8

The Spartans reopened Caito Field in style, taking an eight-goal lead in the first quarter and keeping the shorthanded Tigers at bay for the 14-8 win. Scituate jumped out early and never stopped, leading 8-0 after the first quarter and 10-2 at halftime. Grant Bailey led the Spartans with 7 goals and Caden Gurjian scored three. Jake Mahoney scored one and had three assists in the win. Tiverton had to play with one less player than the norm (eight) after an injury. Miles Cormier scored 7 goals in the loss.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Division I

La Salle 12, East Greenwich 11

Lily Peters found the back of the net five times, Ella Grace scored 2 goals and assisted on 4 others, and Addison Towey had the had trick with one helper as the Rams edged a game East Greenwich squad. The winless Avengers had a strong outing from Tessa Charello, who had six goals and two assists.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Division I

Cranston East 3, Chariho 0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-16)

Charles Pincince paced the Thunderbolts with 14 kills, Larry Yin had 15 digs and Carlos Lara recorded 7 kills in the win. East improves to 2-2 on the season, while the Chargers slip to 2-3.

Division III

Mt. Hope 3, Times2 0 (25-12, 25-16, 27-25)

Austin Almeida had 7 aces, 7 kills and 6 digs; Luke Forman recorded 7 kills and 6 aces; and Josh Vitullo had 22 helpers in Mt. Hope's win over the Times2 co-op. For Times2, Dominik Him had 15 kills and 8 digs and Timi Ekutti added a dozen kills in the loss.

North Kingstown 3, South Kingstown 0 (25-9, 25-8, 25-12)

North Kingstown improved its record to 5-0 with a dominating win over rival South Kingstown. Jackson Meier recorded 7 kills, Steve Dufour had 18 digs and Evan Shea dished off 27 assists in the win for the Skippers.

Achievement First 3, Davies 0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-20)

AJ Kue, James Gilbert and Jonathan Lopez recorded 10 aces among them to help Achievement First capture its first victory in program history. Edward Guzman had 8 attacks, four kills and 2 aces for the Patriots in the loss.

Tolman/Shea 3, Exeter-West Greenwich 0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-11)

Julio Correia had 23 kills and 3 blocks for the Tigers and Fernando Baptista recorded 26 assists. For the Scarlet Knights, Ryan Raleigh had 5 kills in the loss.

Johnston 3, St. Raphael 1 (26-24, 25-16, 20-25, 25-15)
