BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Division I

Cranston East 3, Classical 1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-18)

Charles Princince recorded 25 kills and Caleb Xum amassed 45 assists as the 'Bolt, after dropping the first set, rallied back to take the next three in their win over the Purple. Jacob Agramonte and Teddy Wallace combined for 31 kills and James Men dished off 39 assists for Classical in the loss.

Division II

Westerly 3, Woonsocket 2 (20-25, 25-19, 20-25, 27-25, 15-8)

In a match that went back and forth, the Bulldogs prevailed by winning the last two sets. Jack Kenyon led the way with 21 digs, 18 kills and 3 aces while James Manfredi accounted for 19 assists, 10 digs and 6 kills. The Villa Novans were led by Alex Herreira, who had 23 kills, 2 block,s 2 aces and 14 digs.

Barrington 3, West Warwick 0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-18)

Luke Andsagar led the Eagles (6-1) with 4 kills, 3 aces and 4 digs, Donovan Park contributed 8 kills and 3 digs and Luke Van Ness had 7 digs and 2 aces in a sweep of the Wizards (1-4). West Warwick was led by Nick DeRobbio, who had 5 kills and 2 digs, and Ethan Periera, who had 5 kills, 9 digs and 2 blocks.

Central 3, Pilgrim 0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-16)

The combined efforts of Jet Nascimento (17 kills 2 aces 15 digs 3 blocks), Mark Hachem (6 kills 2 aces 9 digs) and EQ Chen (32 assists) lifted the Knights to their first win of the season after four losses. The Patriots (0-5) remained without a win despite the efforts of Jared Dosremedios (10 assists) and Gabe Orduna (4 aces).

Cranston West 3, Lincoln 0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-16)

Christian Mak led the Falcons with 13 kills, 2 blocks and 2 assists. Ashton Mak had a pair of kills and 27 assists, and Logan Reed recorded 9 digs, and an ace. For the Lions, Wayne McNamara had 15 kills and Austin Noel recorded 28 assists in the loss. The Falcons remain unbeaten at 5-0 in league play while Lincoln slips to 3-2.

Division III

Central Falls 3, Burrillville 0 (25-15, 25-7, 25-0)

The play of Jovanny Lopez (15 assists), Jamilson Depina Almeida (8 Kills, 5 Digs) and Joel Depina (3 Aces, 8 Digs) helped the Warriors upend the Broncos. For Burrillville, Frank Bergin had 4 kills, 4 digs and 1 ace Jose Espinal recorded 3 blocks and a kill in the loss.

EWG 3, Achievement First 1

For the Scarlet Knights, Anden Fry had 9 kills and Robert Zompa recorded 24 assists in the win. For the Falcons, Jonathan Lopez had 11 kills and AJ Kue had 7 aces, 3 kills and 15 assists in the loss. Both teams' records now stand at 1-3 in league play.

Portsmouth 3, Mt. Hope 2 (25-9, 20-25, 31-29, 23-25, 15-10)

In a hard-fought, seesaw battle that went five full sets, the Patriots (2-1) prevailed. They were led by Lukas Huffman, who had 8 kills and 6 aces; Jack Casey, who had 2 blocks, 7 kills, 1 assist and 3 aces; and Sean Wilkey, who had 7 kills, 2 aces, and 2 blocks. The Huskies, who suffered their first loss after three wins, got 16 digs and 15 service aces from Nate Fisher and 5 blocks and 6 kills from Gianfranco Semerora-Bellanca.

BASEBALL

Division I

La Salle 7, Central 1

The Rams offense was held in check through four innings, but once the bats came to life, there was nothing holding them back. Brady Collins plated a pair with a double, Azach Cipriani drove in another with a double of his own. Jairo Martinez and Michael Mita combined to allow just 3 hits over 7 innings to seal the win. For the Knights, Mike Sorino, Jonas Diaz and Yadiel Ventura each had singles.

Coventry 4, Cranston East 1

The Oakers rode a 2-hit complete-game effort by pitcher Anthony Colucci and Logan Downey’s 3-run home run in the 5th inning to beat the Thunderbolts. Gabe Lopez had a hit and the other RBI for the Oakers, who collected 6 hits in the victory. For East, Carlos Merejo had a hit and a run scored in the loss.

SOFTBALL

Division I

Smithfield 6, Chariho 0

Smithfield freshman Crystal Cacador pitched a two-hit shutout striking out 7 along the way and the Lily Riggin led the offense as she homered, doubled and drove in three runs in the Sentinels win over Chariho.

BOYS LACROSSE

Division III

Westerly 13, Toll Gate 3

Ian Morrisette scored 4 goals and assisted on 2 others, Mike Gervasini scored 3 goals and added an assist and Alex Luzzi and Aidan Morrone each scored twice as the Bulldogs rolled to victory over the Titans. David Kennedy found the back of the net twice for TG in the loss.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Division I

Moses Brown 18, La Salle 5

Vivian Stone led the Quakers with 4 goals and Samantha Mocco added 3 goals and an assist in the victory. For the Rams, Lily Peters and Maddi Goodwin each had two goals. With the win, Moses Brown remains unbeaten at 5-0 in league play while La Salle slips to 3-2.

Division II

Toll Gate 18, Mt. Hope 2

Adeline Areson led the Titans with 7 goals and 3 assists, Delanie Wheeler added 4 goals and Lucy Lajoie netted her first varsity goal as Toll Gate improves to 2-0 on the season. Mary McNulty had 9 saves in the win. For the Huskies (0-3), Maria Lacey and Lola Silva each scored, and Emily Moran and Nadia Albritton each recorded 4 saves.

Division IV

Lincoln 16, Scituate 3

Spencer Cameron led the Lions with 6 goals, Skye Adam recorded 5 goals and Faith Miguel and Molly Comtois each netted a pair. Scorers for the Spartans were Ella Bailey (2) and Samantha Duarte. Lincoln improves to 4-1, while Scituate slips to 0-2.

BOYS TENNIS

Division I

La Salle 7, Hendricken 0

The Rams singles lineup all won in straight sets and the doubles teams were equally impressive in a sweep of the Hawks. Zachary Perullo’s 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 was the highlight for La Salle. Andrew Smith dropped only three games at No. 1 and No. 2 Joey Cavanaugh and No. 4 Yash Choudhary lost four in their victories. In doubles, Ryan Coffey and Ryan Souza helped complete the sweep with their 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles.

South Kingstown 4, Smithfield 3

Jonah Plonsky had gone winless all season but he picked the perfect time to get a W as his 5-7, 6-1, 6-0 victory over Matt Kane at fourth singles gave the Rebels the victory.
