BOYS LACROSSE

Division IV

Classical 8, Rogers 0

The Vikings dominated both ends of the field and their sizeable third-quarter lead turned into an 8-0 win over the Purple in a game cut short because of the weather. Rogers saw three different players score in the first quarter and the offense added to the lead to make it 5-0 at halftime. The Vikings also put forth a dominant defensive effort, bottling the Purple attack in, creating turnovers and transitioning the ball quickly up the field. David Rivera scored with 4:21 left in the third to make it 8-0 and shortly after, a lightning strike was detected nearby, causing the game to be paused. As the players were seeking shelter, the officials and coaches from both teams met and Classical agreed to call the game there instead of waiting out the weather so Rogers wouldn’t have to make a return trip to Providence to finish. Rocky Ramsey led Rogers with three goals and Rivera scored two. Connor Hole-Young, Nick Bodycoat and Max Martland had the other three goals for the Vikings. Classical goalie Edward Galts did what he could to minimize the damage and finished his night with 12 saves.
