HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Sandwich girls lacrosse wins 10th straight to remain unbeaten

The Sandwich girls lacrosse team won their 10th straight game to remain unbeaten as they beat New Bedford 18-5 on Wednesday.

Avery Cobban (five goals, two assists), Kyla Darmon (four goals, one assist), Quinn Anderson (two goals, two assists), and Elisabeth Stutzman (two goals, two assists) led the Lady Knights offense.

Kolbie Darmon and Aubrie Schwager each finished with one goal and one assist, while Marley Dwyer, Abi Reisig and Ella Murphy each scored a goal.

Fairhaven 17, Bourne 2: Tessa Stone scored her varsity goal, while Taylor Simard scored the other goal for the Lady Canalmen (1-10)

Upper Cape 13, Tri-County Reg. 5: Adryanna Turner led the way with seven goals for the Rams (8-2). Caitlin Greeley and Hanna Guay had two goals each, while Alaina Hines and Jessi Girouard each scored one goal for Upper Cape. Ruth Alexander had good support on defense and offense with several assists, and Kai’ana Perez also played well offensively.

Boys Lacrosse

Fairhaven 14, Bourne 4: The Canalmen (7-4) snapped a three game win streak. Ryan Haden (two goals, two assists), Charlie Seitz (one goal, one assist), Drew Kelley (one goal) led the offense, while Max Beals had 14 saves in goal for Bourne.

Sandwich 8, Whitman-Hanson Reg. 5: The Blue Knights (8-2) have won five straight. Jack Connolly (three goals), Daniel Oman (two goals), Devin Mahoney (two goals), Dylan McCabe (one goal), and Cole Rodgers (two assists) led the offense for Sandwich. Shane Corcoran had 10 Saves, while Jack OBrien and Jack Bateman played well on defense in the midfield.

Nantucket 14, Archbishop Williams 3: The Whalers (6-1) have won four straight.

Mashpee 13, Hull 5: The Falcons (4-6) have caught fire with three straight wins.

Tri-County Reg. 9, Upper Cape 5: The Rams (5-5) have dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Girls Tennis

St. John Paul II 5, Rising Tide 0: The Lions have won 11 straight to remain unbeaten on the season at 11-0. The highlight came as Lily Walker defeated Lucy Koenig 6-0, 6-2.

Nauset 5, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Warriors (5-3) picked up the sweep win over the Dolphins (0-8). Nicole Boyce won first singles (6-0, 6-0) over Olivia Boyer, Anjali O'Brien beat Tristin Bradford in second singles (6-1, 6-2), Sophia Votteler defeated Kelsang Gurung in third singles (6-3, 7-5) for Nauset.

Faye Adams and Elexa Malouin beat Willania Thompson and Aimee Teague in first doubles (6-0, 6-0), while Callie Murphy and Hayley Jackson defeated Maddy Stewart and Willasia Thompson in second doubles (6-2, 6-4).

Cape Cod Academy 5, Sturgis East 0: The Seahawks (6-3) have won three in a row all by sweeps. Lili Shanahan defeated Keegan Andres in first singles (6-2, 6-0), Julia McCaffrey beat Sydney Faranetta in second singles (6-3, 6-2), Jemma Meadows won third singles (6-0, 6-2) over Brooke Gardner for Cape Cod Academy.

Yoana Dokleva and Molly Lowery defeated Darya Cheglakova and Eli Mariak in first doubles (6-1, 6-3), while Kaleigh Howe and Megan Morey beat Yana Kichukova and Laney Lowenstein in second doubles (6-0, 6-1).

Martha’s Vineyard 4, Falmouth 1: The Vineyarders (5-4) picked up the win over the Clippers (2-6). Laina Dubin defeated Genevieve Maranchie in first singles (6-1, 6-0), while Zoe Treitman beat Gayutri Chaturvedi in third singles (6-2, 6-0) for Martha's Vineyard. Maia Ledwell defeated Leah Thomson in second singles (6-1, 6-1) for Falmouth.

Sophia Balsas and Ellie Pennington defeated Alexis Christian and Marcella DePaula in first doubles (7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (6)), while Ella Moran and Clementine Zeender beat Sadie Inman and Phoebe Hodgson in second doubles (6-3, 6-0) for Martha's Vineyard.

Monomoy 5, Barnstable 0: The Sharks (5-3) picked up their first sweep of the season as they beat the Red Hawks (2-6). Tatiana Malone defeated Isadore Brando in first singles (6-0, 6-0), Lilly Gould won second singles (6-1, 6-0) over Sofia Tymchynshyn (6-1, 6-0), and Hanadi Rezk beat Ayla Camelo in third singles (6-1, 6-0) for Monomoy.

Karina Khalsa and Darcy Addison defeated Kate Condinho and Maddie Devoe in first doubles (6-1, 6-2), while Sophia Sarabia and Madison Mahfouz beat Dana Edwards and Ava Pryzgoda in second doubles (6-3, 6-2).

Norwell 5, Sandwich 0: The Lady Knights fall to 2-8.

Boys Tennis

Barnstable 3, Monomoy 2: The Red Hawks (7-3) snapped a two match slide with the win over the Sharks. Harry Baroni won second singles (5-7, 6-2, 7-6) over Gavin McDonnell for Barnstable. Mike Higginbottom and Dean Cordeiro beat Connor Francis and Paul Carlson in first doubles (6-4, 6-2), while Thomas Berger and Andy Coombs defeated Liam Jordan and Ethan Seufert in second doubles (4-6, 6-3, 6-2).

Ryan Casey beat Brennan Riley in first singles (6-2, 6-0), while Roman Pavluchenko defeated Connor O'Reilly in third singles (6-3, 6-0) for Monomoy.

Nauset 4, Dennis-Yarmouth 1: The Warriors (5-2) snapped a two match slide as they beat the Dolphins (2-7). Jason White beat Max Mingo in first singles (6-4, 6-3), while Will Murphy defeated Landon Richter in third singles (6-0, 6-4) for Nauset. Collin Caron defeated Lucas Wilson-Bevington in first singles (6-0, 7-6 (7)) for D-Y.

Salvi Cacciola and Tom Foley defeated Oscar Turek and Michael O'Reilly in first doubles (6-0, 6-3), while Joey Smith and Soren Jones-Carlson beat Aidan Karras and Tyrell Hayles in second doubles (6-2, 6-4) for Nauset.

Martha’s Vineyard 5, Falmouth 0: The Vineyarders (6-1) remain unbeaten on the road as they beta the Clippers (3-5). Zak Potter won first singles (6-0, 6-0) over Thomas Ghossein, Caleb Dubin beat Quintin Hefferan in second singles (6-4, 6-1), and Kert Kleeman defeated Jack Beardsley in third singles (6-2, 6-1) for Martha's Vineyard. Otis Forrester and Kyle Levy beat Sam Collins and Jacob Faidell in first doubles (6-0, 6-3), while Tommy Flynn and Henry Wansiewicz defeated Henry Stoermer and Joe Ledwick in second doubles (6-0, 6-0).

Cape Cod Academy 3, Sturgis 2: The Seahawks (7-1) handed Sturgis (4-1) its first loss of the season. Ben Catalano beat Ray Zhang in first singles (4-6, 6-4, 6-4), Ayden Nandenov defeated Ben Bass in second singles (3-6, 6-1, 6-3), and Connor Hall won third singles (6-0, 6-2) over George Foster for Cape Cod Academy.

Colby Hall and Francisco Garcia Raya beat Garret Wilson and Declan Livingston in first doubles (6-1, 6-3), while Thomas Nutbrown and Robert Muhov defeated Cooper Hall and Henry Daigle in second doubles (6-0, 6-2) for Sturgis.

Rising Tide 5, St. John Paul II 0: The Lions fall to 1-10.

Softball

Old Colony 19, Cape Tech 2: The Crusaders fall to 2-5.

Falmouth 13, Dennis-Yarmouth 1: The Clippers (7-2) have won four straight as they beat the Dolphins (3-7). Rylin Briggs struck out nine over five innings, and was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double two runs and one RBI for Falmouth. Molly Belfiore went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, while Christina Femino finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Nauset 23, Barnstable 8: The Warriors (4-6) snapped a two game slide as they beat the Red Hawks (0-8). Brynn Kew struck out 14 on the mound, scored three runs, and had four walks for Nauset.

Rising Tide 19, Nantucket 17: The Whalers (2-4) came up just short on the road.

Bourne 8, Seekonk 3: The Lady Canalmen (3-6) have won back-to-back games for the first time this season. Jadyn Morrell pitched a complete game for the win, Olivia Meda went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs, and Bridget Curran recorded her first hit for Bourne.

Baseball

Falmouth 12, Dennis-Yarmouth 5: The Clippers (3-7) have won back-to-back games for the first time this season as they beat the Dolphins (4-7). Tre'Chaun Days went 6.2 innings as he struck out four and scattered seven hits for the win.

Days also went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI, while Jack Frostholm was 3-for-5 with four RBIs for Falmouth. Brody Palmer finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and Max Inman ended 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Lincoln Slade and Ben Rondina each had three hits, while John Richard pitched well in relief for D-Y.

Mashpee 7, Upper Cape 6: The Falcons (4-6) snapped a three game skid as they handed the Rams (10-2) their second loss of the season. Nick Robillard pitched a complete game as he allowed two earned runs, 10 hits, three walks, and struck out seven for Mashpee. Robillard also had a bases clearing double to put the Falcons up for good, while Andrew Fancher and Michael McGrail had two hits each.

Starter Tyler Kutil pitched six innings, allowed four earned runs, seven hits and struck out three for Upper Cape. Kutil, Harrison Gargan, Asher Graff, and Nate Smith each had two hits.

Cape Tech 5, Old Colony 1: The Crusaders (4-5) stopped a four game losing streak with the home win. Trevor Ryone pitched a complete game as he allowed one earned run, scattered two hits, and struck out seven for Cape Tech. Ryone (base hit, RBI), Nolan Baker (two hits, two RBIs), Aidan Choukri (2-for-2 with two runs scored, two RBIs), Jake Ambrosini (two hits), Matt Riker (two runs).

Barnstable 5, Nauset 0: The Red Hawks (8-2) have won four of their last five, while the Warriors (9-3) have lost back-to-back games for the first time this season. Sladen Johnson threw a complete game shutout, allowed three hits, and struck out eight for Barnstable. Johnson also went 1-for-2 (one rune), while Reed Buckler went 2-for-2 (hit by pitch, walk, three RBIs, two runs), and Josh Hunter was 2-for-3 (two hits, one run).

Nantucket 3, Rising Tide 1: The streak has ended as the Whalers (1-9) won their first game of the season.

Seekonk 8, Bourne 1: In a battle of the two defending state champions (Division 4 and 5), the Canalmen (2-7) fell to Seekonk for the second time this season.

St. John Paul II 12, Sturgis 2: The Lions (7-4) have won four of their last five games as they beat Sturgis (3-5). Hunter Alten pitched 5.2 innings, struck out 10, allowed three runs (none earned), and scattered three hits, while Drew Richards threw 1.1 scoreless inning of relief in his first varsity appearance for JPII. Henry Roy (two RBIs, two walks, one run), Tim Cronin (one run, one RBI) and Brandon Gomes (three runs, one RBI) each had two hits.

Sailing

Nasuet 4, Sandwich 0: The Warriors (4-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season last week as they beat the Blue Knights (0-3).
