HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Sandwich girls lacrosse remains unbeaten with 10 goal scorers

The Sandwich girls lacrosse remain on fire with eight straight wins to move to 8-0 after a 16-3 win over Hull on Tuesday. Kolbie Darmon and Kyla Darmon each scored three goals and had one assist, while Quinn Anderson added two goals and two assists and Rae Senno had one goal and three assists for Sandwich. Avery Cobban scored twice, Aubrie Schwager finished with one goal and one assist, and Julia O'Neil, Elisabeth Stutzman, Maggie Konnary, and Casey Egan each contributed a goal.

Girls Lacrosse

Monomoy 17, Sturgis West 3: The Sharks (4-4) offense was led by Karah Deveau, and had contributions from Paige Nash, Tessa Grodzinski, Abrielle Long, Iliana Babedeel, Lucy Bates, Susannah Brown, and Megan Gabri. The Monomoy defense was led by Emma Burnie, and allowed no shots on goal in the first quarter, as well as over 70% successful clear rate.

St. John Paul II 19, Falmouth Academy 7: The Lions (4-4) snapped a two game slide as they bat the Mariners (1-4). Natalie Hurlbut (three goals, six draw controls) and Faye McGuire (two goals, five draw controls) led the Mariners offense. Mira Davis and Lizzy Blauer each scored a goal, Thalia O'Neill and Amelia Russell Schaeffer each added one assist, Susanna Lowell chipped in two draw controls, and Willow Wakefield had 12 saves in goal.

Upper Cape 13, Bristol Plymouth 7: The Rams (6-1) remain unbeaten at home with their fifth straight win. Adryanna Turner finished with seven, Caitlin Greeley added four goals, and Alaina Hines and Hanna Guay each chipped in one goal for Upper Cape. Hayley King, Hines and Greeley played well with transitions upfield.

Cohasset 21, Mashpee 2: The Falcons fall to 3-4 as Ciara Hendricks scored both goals.

Falmouth 10, Barnstable 8: The Clippers (4-4) picked up the win over the Red Hawks (2-3). Chloe Egan (four goals, one assist), Shelby Locascio (one goal, two assists), Claire Kayajan (one goal, one assist), Emelie Jonsson (one goal), Alyssa McEneaney (one goal, one assist) all contributed on offense, while Morgan Mueller had 14 saves in goal for Barnstable.

Boys Lacrosse

Nantucket 7, Nauset 5: The Whalers (4-1) have won four of their last five, while the Warriors (5-3) lost have back-to-back games for the first time this season. Logan Poulin had a hat trick, while Ryder Holm and Riley Meehan each added a goal for Nauset.

St. John Paul II 16, Falmouth Academy 4: Taylor Richardson scored six goals and dished out three assists in the Lions (4-3) win over the Mariners (1-3). Jack Hyde (two goals, two assists), Sean Willis (three goals, one assist), Alex Morin (three goals, one assist), Ollie Affonso (one goal), Dan Cordeiro (two assists) also contributed for JPII.

Christian Hanoian scored twice, Matt Brown and Will Dubreuil each had a goal, and Tomas Tortora made 15 saves in net for Falmouth Academy.

Falmouth 13, Barnstable 2: Cole Gaudet, Jax Falcone (three assists) and Colin Revenaugh each scored twice for the Clippers (7-1) win over the Red Hawks (2-5). Nick Guidi, Chris Shanahan, and Evan Hauptmann each added a goal. Tommy Bushy made nine saves in goal, while Christian Sullivan and Charlie Bardelis played well on defense.

Girls Golf

Barnstable 4, Nauset 2: The Red Hawks remain unbeaten at 4-0 as they beat the Warriors (1-2) at Captains-Starboard. Alexa Garthee (4&3), Ryley King (2&1), Megan Garthee (5&4), Delaney Lagergren (3&1) each scored a point for Barnstable. Sophie Silvestri (4&3) and Alexa Azure (3&1) each scored a point for Nauset.

Falmouth 3.5, Dennis-Yarmouth 2.5: The Clippers (1-5) picked up their first win of the season over the Dolphins (1-4) at the Falmouth Country Club.

Boys Tennis

Cape Cod Academy 5, St. John Paul II 0: The Seahawks (3-1) have won three straight as they swept the Lions (1-6). Ben Catalano defeated Ben Kowal in first singles (6-2, 6-2), Ayden Naydenov beat Michael Maynard in second singles (6-0, 6-0), and Connor Hall and Garret Wilson defeated Zach Jones and Will Sutton in first doubles (6-0, 6-0) for Cape Cod Academy. They won third singles and second doubles by forfeit.

Martha’s Vineyard 5, Nauset 0: The Vineyarders (2-0) remain undefeated as they handed the Warriors (4-1) their first loss of the season. Zak Potter defeated Lucas Wilson-Bevington in first singles (6-1, 6-2), Caleb Dubin beat Jason White in second singles (6-1, 7-6 (5)), and Kert Kleeman defeated Salvi Cacciola in third singles (6-1, 6-1) for Martha's Vineyard.

Kyle Levy and Otis Forrester beat Tom Foley and Joey Smith in first doubles (6-1, 6-3), Tommy Flynn and Henry Wansiewicz beat Will Murphy and Soren Jones-Carlson in second doubles (6-0, 6-3) .

Barnstable 4, Sandwich 1: The Red Hawks (2-1) picked up the win over the Blue Knights (1-2). Harry Baroni defeated Kallen Kostenbaum in second singles (6-4, 6-1), while Eric Arabadzhiev beat Quinn Johnston in third singles (6-0, 6-1) for Barnstable.

Connor O'Reilly and Mike Higginbotham defeated Andrew Chanya and Joey LaScola in first doubles (6-1, 6-1), while Thomas Berger and Andrew Coombs beat Oakley Gully and Liam McLaughlin (6-0, 6-1). Andrew Emmel defeated Brennan Riley in first singles (6-0, 6-2) for Sandwich.

Girls Tennis

Bourne 4, West Bridgewater 1: The Lady Canalmen (2-2) picked up the win in their home opener. Zoe Ridl won first singles (6-1, 6-0), while McKinley Wenzel won second singles (6-0, 2-6, 6-1) for Bourne. Lily Russell and Sofia Halunen won first doubles (6-2, 6-2), Ainsley Hopwood and Zoe Noonan won second doubles (6-4, 6-0).

Barnstable 3, Sandwich 2: The Red Hawks (1-3) picked up their first win of the season as they beat the Lady Knights (1-4).

Softball

Wareham 31, Dennis-Yarmouth 6: Lily Leandre led the Dolphins (3-3) at the plate as she went 2-for-3.

Sturgis 23, Martha’s Vineyard 4: Ryley Mayo went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two RBIs, and four runs scored for Sturgis (2-2) as they beat the Vineyarders (1-2). Julianna Grygent was 3-for-3 with three runs scored, thee RBIs and a double for Sturgis.

South Shore Tech 19, Cape Tech 7: The Crusaders (1-2) gave up nine runs in the 5th inning. Macayla Plant had two hits, Addy Burlingame had a bases loaded triple and Sophia Ricker pitched well for her first start for Cape Tech.

Monomoy 26, Barnstable 1: The Sharks (4-1) remain unbeaten on the road at 4-0 as they beat the Red Hawks (0-5).

Norfolk Aggie 13, Upper Cape 8: The Rams (3-4) lost their first road game of the season.

Carver 6, Sandwich 1:The Lady Knights fall to 0-6.

Baseball

Upper Cape 14, Norfolk Aggie 0: Starter Nolan Roche struck out nine batters and reliever Julian Christopher struck out the side in the fifth for the Rams (7-0) to remain unbeaten. Devin Shultze led the offense with three hits and three RBIs, whle Tyler Kutil, Harrison Gargan, Mitchell Kirkland and Jared Coates each had two hits for Upper Cape.

South Shore Tech 7, Cape Tech 6: Aidan Choukri pitched a complete game for the Crusaders. (3-2) as he struck out 12 and allowed six hits and two walks. Choukri (two hits, double, two runs), Trevor Ryone (double, triple, walk, two runs, three RBIs), Nolan Baker (three RBIs, one hit) for Cape Tech.

Sandwich 5, Carver 4: The Blue Knights (4-2) overcame a 4-0 deficit and picked up the win with four doubles in the 4th inning. Matthew Taylor pitched a complete game and struck out 13, and allowed four hits and one earned run, while Connor Finn had two hits for Sandwich.

Sailing

Nauset 3, Sturgis 2: The Warriors sailed to victory over Sturgis.
