HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Bourne boys basketball wins Winter Tournament Championship

The Bourne boys basketball team beat Plymouth South 72-53 in the Winterfest Tournament Championship on Monday. Mike Dankert finished with 25 points and seven rebounds and was named the Tournament MVP. Nate Reynolds had a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds for Bourne (18-1).

Boys Basketball

Nauset 73, Monomoy 69: The Warriors (8-11) have won two of the last three games, while the Sharks (14-6) have lost back-to-back games, in the second round of the Winterfest Tournament.

Sandwich 48, Milton 46: The Blue Knights (10-9) clinched a spot in the MIAA Tournament with first round win in the Amo Tournament in Quincy. Cole Rodgers had 18 points and four rebounds, Connor Finn added 13 points (four 3-pointers), and Daniel Oman contributed nine points and three rebounds for Sandwich.

Hanover 59, Falmouth 52: The Clippers (5-14) were led by Jackson Falcone's 18 points (12 in the 4th) and Sam Stoermer with 13 points.

Abington 67, Cape Cod Academy 51: The Seahawks (0-18) lost in the first round of the Annual Shawn Cotter Tournament.

Bourne 74, Monomoy 53: Nate Reynolds led the Canalmen (17-1) with 25 points and 20 rebounds as they beat the Sharks (14-5) on Sunday in the first round of the Winterfest Tournament. Leo Andrade dropped 20 points, while Mike Dankert also had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds for Bourne. Tamarr Washington had 23 points, while Jackson Rocco chipped in 14 points for Monomoy.

Plymouth South 61, Nauset 55: The Warriors fall to 7-11 in the first round of the Winterfest Tournament.

Girls Basketball

Falmouth 35, Westwood 30: Teagan Lind led the Clippers (14-7) with a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds. Kinleigh Mohan added four points and five rebounds, while Jordan Dipietro chipped in four more points for Falmouth.

Bourne 61, Dennis-Yarmouth 58: The Lady Canalmen (17-2) came out with the win over the Dolphins (14-5) in a game that came down to the wire. Chloe Azof led the way with 27 points, while Jaylen Pires (14 points), Maeve Dolan (10 points), and Siena Lauze (seven points) also contributed for D-Y.

Mashpee 57, Monomoy 48: The Falcons (8-11) beat the Sharks (9-11) in the second round of the Winterfest Tournament. Seventh grader Alanna McDonald led the way with a career high of 16 for Mashpee, while Hailey Garcia (tournament All-Star) had 14 points and Ciara Hendricks chipped in 12 points.

Needham 48, Falmouth 39: Teagan Lind scored her 1,000th point for the Clippers (13-7), and finished the game with 20 points, five rebounds, and three steals on Sunday. Hailey Lynch added 13 points, while Christina Femino pulled down nine rebounds for Falmouth.

Dennis-Yarmouth 52, Monomoy 33: The Dolphins (14-4) picked up a first round win over the Sharks (9-10) in the Winterfest Tournament. Jaylene Pires led the way with 14 points, while Siena Lauze added 13 points and Chloe Azoff had 10 points for D-Y.

Bourne 70, Mashpee 34: The Lady Canalmen (16-2) recorded a first round win in the Winterfest Tournament over the Falcons (7-11).

Girls Hockey

Boston Latin 4, Barnstable 2: The Red Hawks (6-12-1) lost in the first round of the Lobster Pot Girls Tournament. Ryley King and Avery Braley each scored, while Meili Raspante had 22 saves in net for Barnstable.

Falmouth 5, La Salle Academy 4: The Clippers (18-2-1) won in the first round of the Lobster Pot Girls Tournament. Maeve Turner scored twice and dished out an assist, while Haley Ferreira added two assists for Falmouth.

Plymouth South 1, Sandwich 0: The Lady Knight (9-10-2) were shutout for just the second time this season and snapped a three game win streak.

Martha’s Vineyard 2, Norwood 1: The Vineyarders (11-8) have won two of their last three games, both wins over Norwood.

Boys Hockey

Nauset 6, Monomoy/Mashpee 0: The Warriors (17-1-1) remain as the hottest team on Cape with their 14th straight win as they beat the Sharks (3-13-2). Cam Connery, Brody Basset, Logan Poulin, Zach Weiner, and Joe McManus each found the back of the net for Nauset.

Auburn 6, Sandwich 3: The Blue Knights (16-4) lost in the first round of the 12th Annual Jeff Hayes Memorial Tournament. Jack Connolly had a hat trick, while Chris Cardillo dished out an assist, which put him in the 150-point club for Sandwich.

Abington 7, St. John Paul II 2: The Lions (5-13-2) lost back-to-back games to Abington.

Norton 3, D-Y/CCT/CCA 1: The Dolphins (4-14-1) lost back-to-back games to Norton.

Arlington Catholic 3, Falmouth 2: The Clippers (10-10) came up short in the second round of the Buddy Ferreira Classic Tournament on Sunday.

Essex North Shore Aggie 4, Martha’s Vineyard 3: The Vineyarders (8-9-1) narrowly lost in the second round of the Fairleigh Dickenson Tournament.

Indoor Track and Field

The Indoor Track and Field Championship continued on Sunday with Division 4 teams Falmouth, Martha's Vineyard, Nauset, and St. John Paul II.

Falmouth

Jacob Lary placed in the top 10 of the Boys High Jump with a 9th place finish (5-08.00), and also had a personal record time of 8.62 in the 55m Hurdles Prelims.

The boys 4x200 Meter Relay team of Matheu Brown, Lary, Kobe Matthews and Daniel Hanlon placed 13th with a time of 1:38.16. Hanlon also recorded a p.r. time of 6.93 in the 55m Prelims.

Martha's Vineyard

For the girls, Camille Brand led the way as she won the High Jump with a jump of 5-04.00. Madison Mello placed 11th in the Shot Put with a throw of 32-02.75.

For the boys, Rodeo Purves-Langer recorded a new p.r. in the 1000m with a time of 2:50.64.

Nauset

For the boys, Adian Brown had a p.r. of 6.75 in the 55m Prelims. In the the 55m Hurdles Prelims, Isaiah Robinson (7.93) and Reed Dill (8.89) each posted personal records.

Brown came in second place of the 55m Hurdles (7.81, p.r.), while Robinson was right behind him in 6th place (7.97, p.r.). In the 300m, Damian Bebber finished in 3rd with a time of 36.40, while Dominic Bebber placed 18th with a p.r. of 37.97.

Paytah Dill came in 10th place for the Long Jump, while the 4x200 Meter Relay of Brown, Robinson, Dominic Bebber and Damian Bebber finished second with a season best time of 1:34.60.

For the girls, Violet Roche placed 4th in the 300m (41.90), 5th in the High Jump (5-02.00), and 11th in the Long Jump (15-04.00). Rihanna Sutherland also placed in the top 10 of the 300m with a 9th place finish time of 43.26.

Madeline Mahoney finished 4th in the 1000m with a season best time of 3:01.72, and came in 5th in the 2 Mile with a p.r. of 11:57.96.

Rebecca Cahill placed 19th in the High Jump (4-08.00), and had a p.r. of 8.50 in the 55m Hurdles Prelims.

St. John Paul II

Aniela Gallagher placed 14th in the Girls High Jump (4-10.00), while Madeleine Boyle finished 19th in the Girls Long Jump (14-09.00). The Girls 4x200 Meter Relay team of Meah Dalrymple, Boyle, Emerson Meagher, and Gallagher came in 21st with a time of 1:58.37.
