GIRLS BASKETBALL
Division I
Portsmouth 46, St. Raphael 15
The Patriots made quick work of the Saints in this Division I matchup. Portsmouth (3-1) raced out to a 32-9 lead by halftime and never looked back. Ava Moore paced the Patriots with 17 points and Gyselle Mairs added 9 in the win. Vanessa Piscione scored a team-best 10 points for St. Raphael's.
South Kingstown 48, East Providence 32
Abbie O'Rourke led the Rebels with 18 points and Abbey McDonald added 9 in this Division I matchup as SK improves to 3-2 in league play. Victoria Hancock added 6 points and 12 rebounds in the win.
Bay View 51, Rogers 14
The Bengals were led by Amelia Polichetti's 15 points and Ava Warylow chipped in with 8 as Bay View took a 25-7 lead into the locker room at the break and cruised to its third league win of the season.
Westerly 53, Juanita Sanchez 43
Balanced scoring was the order of the day in this Division I matchup, with six players reaching double figures. For the Bulldogs (3-2), Juliana Voisinet scored a game-high 15 points, Sydney Haik added 14 and Lillian Gorman had 10. For the Cavaliers, Damaris Antigua Oviedo and Arianna Fernandes each scored 13 in the loss, and Charlize Romero added 12.
La Salle 43, North Kingstown 34
Ava Paletta knocked down 15 points and teammate Grace Martone added 10 more as the Rams improved to 4-1 with a win over North Kingstown in Division I. Brooke Faunce had 11 points and Jaylen Holmes had 8 for NK in the loss.
Division II
Chariho 56, Mount St. Charles 43
A trio of Chariho players - Keira Frias, Emily Ballard and Jules White - each reached double digits in scoring helping the Chargers upend the Mounties for their first loss in league play this year. Frias poured in 15 points, Ballard scored 11 and White chipped in with 10. Addison Johnson and Masha Solovian had 11 points each for MSC.
Smithfield 68, Mt. Pleasant 24
The Sentinels put together a total team effort and dominated the Kilties in a D-II encounter. Ten Smithfield players lit up the scoreboard, including Annabelle Lally and Amelia McCreight, who led the way with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Shyonna Hall had 8 points for MP in the loss.
Shea/Tolman 73, Tiverton 40
Trinity Burk put together a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds, Armani Rivera scored 21 points and 5 steals and Tiyara Gonzalez had 10 points and 7 helpers in the Pawtucket co-op's thumping of the Tigers.
Moses Brown 45, Prout 20
The Quakers more than doubled up on the Crusaders, paced by Lauren Bousquet’s 18 points and Jaelynn Perez’s 13 points. Prout was led by Ella Martin with 7 points and Sylvia Mayo with 6.
Division III
Burrillville 38, Middletown 24
The Broncos' Ava Ayotte scored 24 points to match the opponents total output and the rest of the Burrillville team upended Middletown in a D-III battle. Olivia Ferraro added 8 points in the win. Ella Bolano topped the Islanders in scoring with 10 points.
Lincoln 45, Central Falls 35
The Lions' Lauren Cipriano got off to a fast start, making three 3-pointers to start the game. Brielle Lambert and Tayla Valentin added 8 points each, and Charlotte Labossiere pitched in with 6 key points off the bench. Pamela Galva led the Warriors with 15 points and 7 assists and Kamila Pizzaro added 8 points and 5 assists in the loss. The win improves Lincoln's record to 2-2 in league play.
Narragansett 45, Toll Gate 40
Delaney Bonneav scored 15 points and Brooke Caffrey added 12 more as the Mariners, who led throughout the contest, held on for victory over the Titans. Toll Gate, on the play of Adeline Areson (11 pts.) and Dulce Garcia (10 pts.), pulled to within 2 points with a minute left in the contest, but Narragansett made its free throws in the end to seal the win.
Pilgrim 54, North Providence 52
Trailing 38-19 in the third quarter, Pilgrim put together a fierce rally to tie it and at 52-all and then, with seconds left on the clock, freshman Lia Wasilewski launched a two-pointer at the buzzer giving the Patriots a victory over North Providence. Jenna Madden scored a team-high 16 for Pilgrim, Wasilewski added 14 and Amaya Coffie and Lily Hall each had 9. Riddhi Mistry had a game-high 22 points for NP.
